bitching about jumpsuit design (they're plain brown jumpsuits what more do you want)
Count me into that group.

The problem isn't the design, it's that they look really cheap, like they got them out of a party store. That first photo release of the cast all lined up and geared up made them look like a bunch of cosplayers. That was a really bad first impression right there.
His fist line in the film is "If there's a paycheck in it, I'll believe anything you say." which says a lot of the character but honestly, he's not as characterized as well as the rest of the characters. And having just some random guy join the team isn't such a bad thing, it's just I feel like...well he wasn't much to begin with. I believe Ernie Hudson did well in the role and it works in the movie, but I still feel like his character got miffed. And I'm worried yet wouldn't be surprised if this character ended up the same.
Winston is supposed to be kind of a joke/audience insert character. The whole joke is that Ray, Peter, and Egon are so overworked and exhausted, that they just hire the first person who applies. They don't care that they're letting some random guy work with highly advanced and dangerous laser equipement, they just want to get some proper sleep.

You're talking to people who are following an internet outrage script. For reasons of ideology, politics, or nerdishness they already hate this movie. This is just about sharing and echoing that hate, nothing more. When people say "Circle jerk" or "Echo chamber", this is what they mean. A totally uncritical sharing of the same preconceived notion, with some token "evidence" that acts more like a ritual fetish. I'd hate to be the guy who wipes down the loads.

So, the fact that the original was a classic screwball comedy, the fact that they've seen it a dozen time and only seen a trailer for this... none of that matters.
Yeah, after seeing the like:dislike ratio on the trailer for the new film, I should've known better than to even bother talking about this on the internet.

Even the people who aren't so blinded by their hatred for "feminism" that they went off the rails at the thought of Ghostbusters having a female cast are getting their knee-jerk on because "BUT MY CHILDHOOD".
Are you saying there is no valid criticism to be made here or everyone is glossing over the valid criticisms to echo each other with the hate this is generating?

OT: I have no love for ghostbusters ( other than maybe that one game from last gen which i think was pretty good). But the trailer doesn't make me want to see it. It looks like something produced by Adam Sandler. And that is one of the worsts things you can say about a film not made by adam Sandler

I don't know if this has been said before but Sony has been deleting comments by women that show dislike for the movie along with a lot of the constructive critique of the movie. Basically Sony is carving out their own narrative where only misogynists will hate this movie and so you'd better like it or you're "part of the problem".

Are you sure that they're not just doing marketing? I know you types love to fantasize, but really, wouldn't they just silence any substantial criticism in their MARKETING? They're a company trying to sell shit after all.
Wow, you people are amazing, "it's not censorship to remove content someone else created, it's localization" until something like the lesbian scene removal in some garbage cartoon in the UK happens, then it's obviously censorship (which I agree, it was censorship, just like every ounce of other content that gets removed), IT'S ONLY OKAY WHEN WE DO IT!!!
"It's not censorship to remove criticism, it's marketing" but just you wait till someone makes something bawffensive and removes the critical comments, then you people will claim censorship once again, IT'S ONLY OKAY WHEN WE DO IT!!!

I wrote a longer comment under the official trailer, it was not insulting nor did I even mention the cast, I pointed out how bad and too comic like the CGI looks compared to the original, and how out of place the slapstick humor is. That's all, but it got deleted, posted it again, deleted, posted it again, deleted. This is censorship, but of course the comments downright insulting the over 300k people who disliked the trailer, totally fine. Also what I realized is that comments solely concentrating on the cast being female being the raeson it sucks, don't get removed, talking about artificially creating a "sexism" issue "oh look the people only hate it because it has vaginas, which is the only reason I think it's the best movie ever and why I vote for Hillary", of course it will look like that when they censor any valid criticism. You people claim that nothing is save from criticism, but once the criticism goes against the narrative it needs to be censored.

It's kinda bad? I'm not really sure how to characterize it. It didn't make me want to go out and pre-purchase my ticket, but I never do that anyway. And I'll still see it, maybe just not on day one.

But "bad, evil, terrible, warst evar!!!!!!!!!!" I don't see it. Maybe it's just because I've been watching the increasingly terrible Batman V Superman trailers, each one making me see gigantic trainwreck even more than the last, that perhaps I've been a little oversaturated with bad trailers and Ghostbusters just isn't bad enough to gain traction.

Looks all right to me, though I think the fan-edit was much better. Some of the jokes felt a little forced, but that may be because they were seen in a largely context-less trailer sound-bite, but it looks like a campy fun romp in the spirit of the original movie.

Uhu? Can people bashing this trailer explain me what is so bad about it?
Because this trailer is exactly what I expected, and what I expected was the humour and sillyness of Ghostbusters. It's not a super-duper-awesome-movie, but it's not the utter failure that people are already deciding it will be.

In my opinion, people bashing this trailer either don't remember the original Ghostbusters or are just pissed that this movie has four female protagonists.
The problem is that the jokes in the trailer resemble Adam Sandler-tier stuff far too much, and since trailers for comedies or generally funny movies often try to put their best jokes forward, it doesn't bode well for the movie. 'The Power of Patty Compels You' was really, really bad.

That's very charitable of you then...

It's silly but it's not the same humour though, is it?

From:

To: "Too much, is it the hat or the wig?" and "Get out of my friend. The devil is a liar!!" or whatever that shit was.

I believe it's a product of its era. Which is to say that it's unoriginal, unimaginative, and the kind of bland homogenised humour that makes up mainstream comedy now. I don't know what it is about this kind of comedy writing that irks me so much. It's like it thinks it's too good to be slapstick (there's nothing wrong with good slapstick), but clearly isn't clever enough to actually be witty either. It's this middling mush that is instantly forgettable. The original had a mix of over the top characters and normal-ish characters who create comedy by virtue of being witty. The new film seems to have 4 cartoon characters.

I think your assumptions about other people say more about yourself than they do about those people, to be perfectly honest. I remember Ghostbusters, and I'm far more concerned by my feelings about the quality and tone presented than the vagina count amongst the cast.

We can disagree about the quality without you casting aspersions on me, as though the only way I can not like the trailer is by virtue of misogyny(you didn't target me specifically, but you made an incredibly broad suggestion). That's a ridiculous thing to suggest.

So in your opinion if people's opinions differ from you they must therefore be mentally incapable of remembering things or be just plain bigots? What a convenient way to dismiss other people's opinions.

I don't really care about the franchise. It isn't nostalgic for me and while a fun watch it isn't really holding up as one of the greats in my mind. The trailer looked a bit more overtly silly than the already silly original and I could see that sparking some rage since it does feel like a different tone. The characters certainly seem a whole lot more exaggerated and even more silly. As for the all female cast part, it would be appropriate for people to be mad at sexism for the same reason people could have been mad at an all-male cast. Diversity could have been championed rather than more of the same in the other direction being somehow praise-worthy just because it's sexism with tits instead of sexism with balls. So I'm not sure that people being upset at people specifically hiring based on sex (aka sexual discrimination) is a valid argument on your side of the equation. What say we expose bigotry where we find it instead of only glorifying it where it caters to whatever our particular demographics are? Eh?

Again, not that I particularly care. Not a fan of the franchise but I also don't dislike the franchise. Only really saw the first movie anyways and a bit of the cartoons. There are valid criticisms of the way the trailer appears to be directing the film.

Yeah it doesn't look very good.
My main gripe however is that once again a film franchise from the 80's is being dug up and regurgitated instead of, you know, coming up with fresh new ideas.
It wouldn't be as bad if they just tried new things properly instead of being so dead pan that it's all dead.

*Gets around to watching trailer*

Huh.

... would it be racist of me if I said that the biggest problem was the black woman?
That and the dumpy one trying and failing to be a nerd. The other two seem decent.

Dude, I watched this movie more than any other, I could dub the whole thing, in german, myself out of my head, and they weren't even close to the, as others pointed it out very accurately, Adam Sandler like comedy, no one slapped a ghost out of another person, while doing a Excorcist referenece, after Peter gets slimed, which was also more dramatic than vomitting, he doesn't jokes about how the slime went into his buttcrack, ghosts taking over humans was much more dramatic, and for damn sure not one of the guys licked the tip of his proton wand. While there was humor and some sillyness, they always tried to still make it believable by having a almost constant light sense of seriousness.
This new one feels like a parody, like the removed all the seriousness of the originals and replaced it with slapstick comedy.
Hell even when there is actually something serious going on when MacCarthy got possessed and smashed the gun licker through a window, they completely ruin it with the 180? head spin and the following crap Patty pulls, even though it's nice to press repeatetly 9 while watching the trailer to see McCarthy getting slapped again and again. If they would have said from the beginning that they want to make a parody people wouldn't hate on it as much, but they are trying to sell it as actual Ghostbusters movie, and that it is just not. And the ghosts just look bad, I would have much more respect if they would have used the old technology than the generic modern day CGI garbage that just looks so fake.

Now while I think her acting doesn't belong in Ghostbusters, I have to respect how she deals with haters and how she is not bowing down to the faschists, some people *coughANITAcoughWUWUcough* could learn a few things from her.
