Damn you traditional media! How dare you focus on swine flu instead of the real issue of giant spiders!!!

A similar situation exists in Tasmania (I think) where residents of a town are terrorised by large, extremely resilient ants that can kill if you have an allergy to their venom, an allergy which is very common.

Come to Australia!
We have the greatest wildlife in the world!
Come to Australia! You might accidentally get killed!

As scary and hardcore as these spiders are, nothing beats the Sydney Funnelweb spider, for being the only animal in the world who genuinely wants to kill you and will cheerfully chase you down even when you don't invade its territory.
hahaha, I wouldn't mind experiencing that at least once in my lifetime :)

on second thoughts, I don't think I want to be chased by a spider. But I'll be glad to see another volunteer take my spot, for the sake of "funny". Just don't get yourself killed lad.

This is a perfect example of why Australia is one of the most dangerous continents on Earth bar none.
It is also has the most urbanised population in the developed world, bar the Vatican.

Also, you appear to have forgotten Antarctica, which Australia owns the largest chunk of.

There isn't a gun in the world big enough to make me feel comfortable with being within a mile of one of those motherfuckers.

Needless to say, I am never going to Australia after seeing that image.

It's a pretty safe bet I'm NEVER going to Austrailia for any reason whatsoever. Ever.

That photo has me feeling compelled to move to Siberia, if anything.

Antarctica is really only dangerous because of the cold. Not only is Australia pretty close to as hot as Antarctica is cold IIRC, it has hordes of fucking dangerous wildlife that can paralyze and/or kill you with their bodies.

Points for referencing Arachnophobia.
I thought giant bird eating spiders were a fairly common occurrence anyway, makes sense they'd come out for a wander every now and again.

Agressive little bastards. Well I figured it was only a matter of time until the spiders launched their campaign. Being bitten really sucks, makes the flesh around the bite die and fall off...I don't blame progression, just torch the damn things, I mean the foodchain can get along without them...right?

And that is why nobody in their right mind lives in Australia.
I used to think Australia has it good. But then I've remembered "The Last Continent" by T. Pratchett.

Harmless animals of XXXX: "Some sheep."

The one thing I love about Britain... You can count the dangerous animals on one hand.
.....hmmm......... Some of the dogs? ..... Possibly an raged bull.... yeah, thats about it. I think we do have a type of snake, but the venom it has isn't fatal, or even particularly dangerous.

EDIT:
Also, those are FUCKING HUGE spiders!!!

WE should tame them, then grow them bigger! Then ride around on them! I would call my spider Barney.

just gotta get the squish in before they notice you. also a very good reason to check the pool skimmer box before you stick your hand in to grab it. little fuckers can survive in there for days
