no... real life in general after college is much more stressful... unless your mentally deficient or are still being supported by your parents... judging by the fact you seem to think after school most jobs are just "physical labor" and that work is the only stressful thing in adult life you seem to be aware off I'm guessing your still in school
I had to take a year off of school for financial reasons, a semester of which was spent living on my own without parental support. I know plenty about living as an adult, and I gained a lot of respect during my time off for the working class.

But, please, enlighten me on the great many jobs that are not physical labor but are stressful, in ways that are more stressful than a good university. We're not comparing surgeons to community college, here, either. My point was more that the only *good* jobs are those that are either physically or mentally demanding. An officeworker might be stressed, but he isn't exactly "working hard" in the way that a doctor or lumberjack does.

Also, what the hell does "work is [not] the only stressful thin in adult life" have to do with anything? We're only talking about working in a job vs working as a student. I'm not bringing up kids or other "adult" things (as if only non-college adults could have kids) because it has jack-all to do with the conversation.

Edited for snark. If, Liquid, you're talking about community college, then I'd agree. Community college is nothing compared to a real university.

I'm just saying that, if given the choice, I'd consider picking a construction job over a lawyer or doctor, not because I don't have the intelligence for the latter, but because the former is a helluvalot less stressful. Officework and the "average" job would not be stressful to me; it'd just be boring as hell, and wouldn't pay nearly as well as manual or mental labor.

I got nothing. I pity the cops that arrested her, having to listen to all that. My favorite part is that the class laughs for a few minutes, then sits back down, while there will no doubt be a joke about how next class will probably be much quieter from the prof or TA at the end of lecture.

Though, really, I'd love to know where she's getting her information, and send some knowledged individuals into that hive and stop the spread of extremely inflammatory false information. Ignorance only begets ignorance, unless it's willing to change, after all.

Why does evolution kill black people? The same reason the sky is neon green.
c wut i did thar?

Also, anyone whose reaction upon hearing that this happened in Florida wasn't "oh, that explains it" obviously doesn't watch Sidescrollers [http://www.screwattack.com/shows/originals/sidescrollers].

I was a little disappointed at the end there, I was hoping she was going to get put in her place with a swift, nice backhand. But alas.

Stupid people will be stupid people. I'm more surprised at how long the teachers there let that go on for as long as it did.
Well the girl in question is black, taking action against a black student for being loud especially on racial grounds can get the person doing it into all kinds of trouble, like it or not that's the kind of reason why affirmitive action and special minority protection laws are a big deal. Granted this case was beyond the pale, but when I was attending college for Criminal Justice is some of the classes I was in we had black students who didn't like points in classes like sociology, psychology, or similar things start calling the teacher "professor crackers" and laughing in the middle of lectures because they knew nothing would happen to them. I've never seen anything like that, but up until the point of the actual assault I'd imagine she would have been covered for everything she did by the school administration. There are lawyers and civil groups that virtually live just for of minority students being kicked out of class or being expelled for "expressing themselves".

Reading the article she was apparently involved in a protest of some kind, and was deciding to make a scene in relation to it for that reason. I get the impression that while some of the students are laughing at her, a few of them are laughing with her (so to speak) and might have been in on the joke. I also notice she seems to spend a lot of her rant facing back towards the camera, which leads me to believe she was performing for a camera she knew was going to be there (albiet not ideally placed), the recording also seems to start right as the rant does which seems like it was timed.

I'm very interested to see if she gets arrested for assault and/or expelled, but based on previous experience I'd rate the chances at 50-50, a lot comes down to whether anyone presses charges, and given that she was voicing racial accusatons not many people might be willing to bring that one to court despite all common sense.

Welcome to community college, home of the C+ student, oh wait, this is a university, well they just became a little less prestigious.
Affirmative action, my friend. Mostly good, but sometimes this can happen...

She was apparently very polite in a previous email correspondence according to the professor. At the risk of armchair diagnosing, its entirely plausible that she had a salt or sugar imbalance(Such as a Diabetic.) When you mess around with the basic chemistry of life, the nicest people can go freaking insane and become violent or catatonic.

What was the class discussing exactly?
Sexual selection in peacocks resulting in increased plumage size over time.

At first I wanted to jump to the assumption that she was one of those kinds of people who get pissed whenever people try to teach evolution, then I saw the comment about how this might relate to Treyvon--really unfortionate story. I'll stow all jokes for now with respect to the situation in Flordia.
What happened to Treyvon was bullshit and the result of one of the worst laws ever, but no matter what her opinions on the matter she was completely in the wrong here. She can't somehow legitimize threatening a professor and hitting a student just because something completely unrelated happened that she didn't like.

Dr Who visits her class and all she has to say to the worlds greatest Time Lord is "you raped my ancestors".

Did she just get recorded doing death threats based on race?
Hopefully this video will prove racism isn't something only white people do, it's something idiots do.

Also, how the hell is Jonatha a name?
Her dad was in denial and was 7/8th's through the name before her mother took the pen off him.

This is ... sort of completely fucking stupid.

Awesome video, if I do say so myself, and the general hypothesis is that she participated in some protests for a black kid named Trayvon and was incensed from that during the course.
I don't know what the Trayvon case has to do with evolution. The whole Trayvon thing is a thing less because of any racial issue and more because there's overwhelming evidence that a guy killed a kid, completely unprovoked, as the kid was screaming for help, and yet the cops do absolutely nothing about it. People would be just as pissed about it if it were a white kid, the point is the police aren't doing their job.

I didn't watch the video (I'm in the library lol) but it seems to me like this girl is high on something. When I clicked this thread, I expected the girl to be like a fundamentalist christian or something. Nobody's believed any of that bullshit about white people being "more highly evolved" than black people for like fifty years or something.

...Sort of completely???

Sooooo, not really completely?

Could you please elaborate on that so that I may conclude that you won't flip shit shortly afterwords? I'll be here. Kinda permanently.

OT: How much you wanna bet this Trayvon event spirals into something reminiscient of the L.A. riots?

On a related note: Evolution doesn't kill black people, freebasing heroine and lighting your ass on fire almost kills black people.

The situation surrounding the shooting of the unarmed African American boy didn't really hit the news where I'm from, but it's truly, truly awful stuff :(

I think you're right- some mental or biochemical explanation would make sense for, quite frankly, that incredibly aggressive outburst.
I hope they get help.
