Plus if you want to ask if it is reasonable look at some of the replys in this thread from clearly bitter men. Who generalize women much like you have generalized by saying all women say they are "girl gamers". So infact your part of the problem by just thinking all women do it and only for attention at that.
When did I say this?
Don't put words in my mouth, I was talking about females who refer themselves as 'girl gamers'.
I also clearly stated that I was okay with females who referred themselves simply as 'gamers' rather than 'girl gamers'.

Actually your right,Seems I got half your argument and half of the person below you who quoted it sorry about that. But overall I think my stance still stands on people group together bases on a similiarty when they are the minority in a hobby. I do not call myself a "girl gamer" but I do call myself a "deaf gamer" at times as I tend to hang out and play alot more with the deaf community as I share more in common with them then just being a girl.

The main reason for this is,Being mute is my master status and even being female people will see me as being mute first, Same way with girls other men will judge her based on there perceptions of being a female. Same thing works with being who are fat others will see them as being fat first then male or female so all there opinions of what they see of the persons master status will take effect.

In closing, I think being a female who grew up in games with other girls it used to be you were classed as a tomboy why maybe the whole idea of girl gamer isn't so much directed at other men but at other females telling them it is fine to be a girl and enjoy games and not be thought of as just a tomboy.

As a channer I will say this, sometimes it's better to be anonymous than to have a name.
If you want to be different in a place where everyone is the same, you WILL be treated differently if you make people aware that you are different.
If you want to be treated like a white nerdy male among a society of white nerdy males, then you shouldn't put attention into the fact that you are infact not a white nerdy male.

If you play a game and someone notices/asks that you a female, just say 'yes I am' then continue playing.
Don't announce that you're female without anyone asking, and don't make a big deal of being female.

This is no more sexist than that a white gamer will be treated differently when entering a server of black gamers, if the first thing he does when entering the server is going "Hey guys, I'm white".

I agree. Sometimes I can't even enjoy playing a female character or play games like Soul Caliber without feeling perverted. Being a guy myself, it seems like the developers just want to slam boobs in my face so that buy the damn thing. Sometimes I just want to be able to enjoy the game and all the characters in it without feeling like a pervert.

Instead I just play the male characters with painful repetition.

I sense a disturbance in the force

Because if girls in games DON'T have huge jugs men wont play them. It's just how the male brain works.

What?

By that logic I wouldn't be playing games like Ikaruga.

Might just be that the DOA girls have a lot more in common with Venus of Willendorf statuettes than anyone wants to admit.
Well, they can't play volleyball well without arms.

Hi everyone Im a boy gamer!
I object to male toplessness in games and unrealistic crotch bumps, I think this attitude from gaming is turning men into sex objects.

That is all.

I agree with this and I hope it continues. I just wish more mainstream Western males weren't so hyper-dismissive of minorities discussing social issues that affect them...But that'll never happen, will it?
Women are a "minority" ?

Just get over it, because it will never change. Ivy and Ivy-type characters with huge jugs make for a good laugh, anyway.

If men and women were exactly the same, your point might be valid.

But given that (hold on to you hats)... They aren't... it doesn't help.

Most guys DO like to be the badass in games, but it doesn't work with women overmuch when they 'get' to play as the platinum blonde supermodel heroin who cant touch her elbows together.

It's not an issue that reversal can be applied to... but we appreciate the intention.

Here's a female perspective: If game developers want to create games where the heroines have abnormally large breasts then that's fine by me. I love to laugh at the fact if women with similar sized breasts tried game-type maneouvres in reality the result would be a couple of large, black eyes. And congrats to those males who pointed out that not all men love huge breasts. We knew you were out there somewhere.
