Eh, I don't think i could ever stand to live with a girl who was into gaming as much as me. I actually kind of rely on my girlfriend (and now my wife!) to get me out of the house and into social situations because, quite frankly, i am incredibly anti-social... Realize i need to work on that aspect of myself. She is in no way a gamer, but god love her, she understands my gaming and the importance of some 'alone time' every so often.

I just can't stand gamer-girls cause, to be quite honest, everyone i've ever met is really only into gaming because it's a new way they've tapped to try to get the male-attention they crave.

I know that's incredibly pessimistic, and that there probably are girls who game because they truly do love it, but i haven't met them yet.

It didn't help that i did date a girl for 2 years who was semi-into-gaming, and she turned out being a cheating psychopath. (Putting it kindly.)

Hmm, my ex was pretty sweet in that respect. She was as much of a gaming nut as I was, we'd get competitive over who could build the hardest party in Final Fantasy games. Then she got all Suikoden 4 on me.

My wife is a casual gamer meaning. "my gaming time doesn't cut into our together time as long as it's during her gameing spells." Also since i do 40k, D&D(want to again), game, post on forums etc. she gets tiffy that she'll never have time with me again.

Don't have a girlfriend, but my ex wasn't that much into console/computer games with the exception of The sims, guitar hero and some internet games. She kind of liked watching others play though.

Wow... I thought those type of women were the stuff of myth and legend!
Or, if they did exist, were hideously ugly.

I've been dating a girl for little less than a year, who doesn't mind my excessive gaming. She asks about what bosses I killed today, gets excited when I tell her I got a dog in FO3, and loves that I like the artistic side of games not just the "how many noobs I can pwn," which is what her previous boyfriends were like. She doesn't game at all beyond mariokart. She let me play FO3 with my arms wrapped around her; she likes watching me play Dead Space because "it's like a horror movie;" and she laughs when I headshot people.

This is mind-boggling to me because my prior girlfriends got all up in arms that my gaming cut into "our time" even though I made it abundantly clear that I know my priorities.

Guys, do you have any stories like this? Girlfriends (or hopefully ex's) who hate the fact that you spend some time away from them to escape?

Girls, why do other girls hate the fact that guys like the game? Or on the rare occasion, did you have a boyfriend that hated the fact you gamed?

Let's hear it
Im in a similar situation. Im pretty ownage at brawl, even thoughg i havnt played it in ages, we had fun just seeing what advantages she could take to make her beat me. She likes talking about games i enjoy and what they are like, always gives funny ideas on what to do if im stuck over msn, that make us both laugh. Beend dating this girl for a little under a year as well, she isnt as in to gaming as i am but is wowed by the epicness of my level of games, she never played more than lara croft for the gamecube, games like FO3 blow her away specually when my computer lets me run them at VERY high qualities. Played doom3 once as well, very fun, her face when i said "theres zombies here" and she went "Seriously? I dont believe you zombies on mars is stupid" then one jumped out through a doorway. Christ that was funny, even she laughed for ages. Beat portal in the same way you played FO3. She liked the funny characters and dark humor of the game more than the gameplay.

I wish for a gamer guy. You guys are actually rather tricky to pick up!
LAN parties over drunk parties
Net-cafes (or whatever they're called in english) over disco's

If you're in school, theres definitely gamers. Just wear a t-shirt that has a gaming reference or something, they'll expose themselves somehow then.

I play strip Soul Calibur with her.

I always lose....

Aside from that I'm pretty much better than her in any non-fighting game, although she's been getting better at No More Heroes.

I know my boyfriend would love to hold me...while I play MGS4. (He is a huge fan of the series.)
However, Im a bigger gamer than he is. Do know though, you are obliged to experience her interests too.

All my exs have loved the fact I'm a gamer..

Me and my current one actually spend most our time playing games... When we're not sleeping/ eating and doing couply stuff :D

And we both enjoy it, and we've taught each other how to play certain games and we have some nights where we spend ages playing AoE, or some nights at his where we spend ages playing GoW2.

Ahh the joys :)

Oh and he totally accepts the fact I'm better than him :D

then expect them to sexually please them while STILL playing the game.
Wha...? That's just asinine. If my girlfriend asked me to sexually please her while she was doing her makeup or chatting to her friends on the phone I'd kick her ass out.

I'm currently single, but used to have a girlfriend who was also a gamer (broke up because she moved to a different city, 10 hours from here). Our tastes didn't had about 50% overlap, but we enjoyed playing anything together, even if it wasn't a multiplayer game. We'd solve puzzles together in World of Goo, decide where to go next in Prince of Persia, argue about morality in Mass Effect (she loved the Renegade side of things, while I was a Paragon at heart).
The best part was that she liked pen-and-paper RPG's as well, so we always had little scenes rehearsed that added a lot of life to our sessions.

Also, have you joined the Gamer Girls group? You should. It's amazingly good, with lots of intelligent conversation, and a very welcoming atmosphere.

My fiancee isn't much of a gamer. We play a lot of Halo 3 multiplayer together which is great, but otherwise I just try and get him into RPG's. He's played through KOTOR and Jade Empire for me though, so thats really nice.

I don't know if I could date a really hardcore gamer, I can't share my screens :) so its good that he is a physics and math nerd so we just laugh at each other for the collective nerdiness.
