I'll be happy the day I can buy games without the clerk either acting A)surprised and excited that a woman would touch anything that says "Half life" on it or B) Keep his @&%#-ing mouth shut when I buy a sims game. Doesn't matter if it's Future Shop's gnomes or a little franchise gaming store, chatty customer service is one thing but I don't need "ohhh, what is it with you women and your siiiiiiims" or "A Girl? Playing a game? Throw a party!"
From now on I buy online. Let's not make a big deal regardless of how I choose to waste my leisure hours, whether the colour palette is cheerful and the game play reminiscent of an aesthetic squirrel or brown and involving hitting things and being emo.

For the person talking about sex scenes... Well, I haven't played fall out, but lets just say I'm immature enough to indulge in PG-13 fun in Mass Effect and my only complaint was that none of the guys I could make Barbie-Shepherd shtoink were my type. Or as lovingly animated, but nobody got better animation than Miranda.

Kinda off topic but I have to say I 'love' how in my short time at the escapist (yes 7 months is short) I have seen constant forum threads of the same topic being redone by a different OP with a different title but usually all ask the same questions. I can't tell whether it is amusing, annoying or if I should even bother thinking threads are being repeated.

Long Hand Answer: To answer your questions I say
1st: I think girls have the freedom to play any game they take a fancy to. Only I think they should pronouce (spelt it wrong) the fact that they play games more. 2nd: Yes obviously I kinda had a lol moment in a HL2 mod called Modular Combat I believes and there was this one player who had a really whiny voice and kept putting down the other players alot and I just assumed that it was 14 year old who had just got a mike and was trying it for the first time until on one map I heard someone else say "Wow she's really good at this game. Look at how well she done." Which then caused me to do a double take get killed by someone else. I then asked the person in question if they were indeed a girl to which they answered they were. I then explained I hadn't known from her voice that she was of the female gender and she replied it happens alot of the time. She then proceeded to kick our asses and we all generally had a good time.
Last but not least 3rd: No I do not.

Not to be rude, but didn't we just have this same exact thread last week? From what I've seen, gender isn't a factor, girls play just as good. They're just games.. anyone can learn to play them really. *shrug* (to be honest I wish there were more girl players online. I don't always want to play with 1000s of guys)

Which is a far more interesting topic. Because personally I find it really annoying when there's a token girl (typically a 'badass', or more accurately just a dude with tits) among a cast/team of all-male characters. Women are severely underrepresented in games.

I play online with everyone muted anyway, it's just so much easier that way. so I honestly don't no what the different genders of the people I'm playing against are. As far as I'm concerned, I'm happy to play with anyone so long as no-one acts like a git.

I still don't get this "hardcore" vs. "casual" dichotomy, that somehow playing the 10 hour campaign on Modern Warfare 2 is "hardcore" while devoting two years of your life to Farmville is "casual". Makes little sense to me. I know a few women who've devoted hundreds of hours to WoW, Diablo, Dragon Age, and the Sims. That seems as hardcore as anyone who plays 2 or 3 hours of Call of Duty every night, regardless of sex.
Just to nitpick it's mainly film where American comic books have suddenly become mainstream. Twenty years ago the top North American comic book titles were selling in the millions; today a title is considered a smash success if it sells 150,000. There's been at least one live-action American superhero TV series every decade since the 40s, and many more animated series. As a young child in the early 80s, I had Justice League bedsheets and wore a Superman halloween costume one year; I remember playing Batman on the NES (which was more like a sprite-swapped Ninja Gaiden, but whatever), Spider-man on the Genesis, and the DataEast Superman game in the arcades.
