What did the Amnesia dlc have to do with portal?
Experimentation (for science!) on a test subject through multiple test chambers, i'd imagine.

I think that one was done in a way that you can see the portal references and such but could stand on it's own later on.

Oh yeah, and one of the tests has a note in it that refers to a Puzzle Box and Illuminating box and at the bottom it has 'A.S. Inc, Boston, Massachusetts'. (Im under the impression A.S. = Aperture Science)

Wow this ARG is getting intense, members of the steamforums and facepunch forums, who have been very active in solving this ARG, have been abducted by GLaDOS. Something big is going to happen on friday and it's not an early release of Portal 2, it's something bigger.

...

Aside from the obvious answer, for some reason, my thought is a very late, very elaborate 'April Fool's'.

I just opened TF2 and played an offline game and GLaDOS is one of the bots.
That's been there since the bots were released back in '08
I just got into playing TF2 honestly, but offline there's a sentry called Aperture Science Project. Excuse me if this isn't one of them, but I haven't came across anything like it yet.

Well, the only game I have from the sack is Super Meat Boy, and I'm not dropping $30+ on a bunch of games I'm not interested in, no matter how many Portal 2 themed goodies they add.

I will look for whatever they did in Super Meat Boy, though.
Did you find anything? the only games with portal 2 related stuff on this page are the ones I don't own or can't stand (killing floor is shit, sorry)

No it's not one of them, VALVe just likes to name the bots after other things from their games like "Boomer" or "Headcrab" or "companion cube"

It has nothing to do with the ARG, but it is pretty neat.

Awesome but it seems that Valve have thrown down the gauntlet to Escapist's own Miracle of Sound with that Audiosurf song.
The song wasn't made by Valve. It's a couple of years old, in fact.

And they've done so well in marketing this game, I really hope it lives up to expectations.
Both CEO and Valve writer have said that it is, in their opinions, the "best singleplayer game Valve has ever made." Considering this is the company that turned PC gaming on its head twice now, that's pretty goddamn hefty expectations - marketing be damned.

Despite the marketing being amazing, I was in some agreement that they are screwing around with people's paid for games without permission, but then, reconsidering, mostly they're just adding content, even if, as they're doing that, they're scattering Portal references and potatoes all over the place.

I think for free DLC, like the extra bits in Audiosurf, Amnesia, Defense Grid (which I've already blown 80 hours on btw, tho I had it long before this sale! It is one of the greatest tower defense games I've played tho.), I can take a bit of daftness, essentially it's like viewing some occasional billboards instead of paying, and Steam have done what they can to make it all fun instead of annoying.

I am sure any daft stuff will be patched out after Portal 2's , release, tho I hope the bonus content stays! I've not tried the Amnesia stuff yet.

LACK OF EFFORT MY ASS!!!!
(I got silver on the Audiosurf song,GLaDOS said that the devices couldn't measure such a lack of effort.)
Same, and now I don't know how to get back on that track... (Edit: Nvm, found it - it's on the radio tab under Test).

Eitherway the early release thing doesn't affect me at all. I have to wait till next thursday regardless thanks to rubbish eu retail release dates.

I just realized that Amnesia, which I already have, was part of this pack and has an update! Excited to play it :)

The other day I was like, why the hell is Amnesia downloading an update?

Then again, this is Valve, a company which most likely doesn't have a score on Meta under 80. The only problem I have is that I'm on holiday on release date, which makes me a massively sad panda...

Kindly enough, Dejobaan Games was kind enough to post a full explanation of the ARG up to this point here [http://dejobaan.net/dl/helpme/], just so you can get caught up.
I loved reading that thing; I've been following the ARG but it was still entertaining!

Fun fact: Scanning the barcodes on the side gives you the phrase "PLEASE HELP US" as well.

while i can appreciate a little add now and then for a game valve has gone all MW/COD on us is anyone else having a sneaking suspicion that valve is just trying to hype the game to cover up its short comings...or am i just paranoid?
No. This is Valve we're talking about, this is what they do. I think a lot of people are missing the point of this though, Valve aren't advertising Portal 2. They don't need to. They're trying to get people to buy the other games to get all the Portal related goodies.

I've been a life long PC gamer and I've seen what Valve do. The way they market everything has always been flawless. I challenge you to find someone who hasn't logged on to Steam one day, seen a game on sale and immediately bought it. I've done it more times than I'd like to count. But the thing is they don't do it like some evil coorperation that wants to shake down all your money, the deals they offer are really good value for money.

I'm starting to sound like a Valve fanboy which I'm really not, I just have a lot of admiration for the way they handle themselves compared to say Activision and EA. The fact they've really only released a handful of games but they're still considered an industry giant speaks for itself.
