You forgot to mention the best one! Amnesia got an expansion called "Justine". You play as a female being guided around horrifying test chambers by a disembodied voice.

I'm too scared to play it right now...
Thanks, I added it to the story :) I'm sure there are more too.

EA take note, this is how you get your target audience excited and interested in your product, now please get everyone in your marketing team to form a large circle, and kick each other up the butt until you decide to stop using offending material to market your games. Thankyou.

All this ARG stuff is interesting to read about but tbh I would prefer Valve to spend more time making their games. They could have just done the portal 2 trailers.
You realize that this is a game, right? That's what the "G" in "ARG" stands for.

Damn Steam and their awesomeness! They get all my money with cheap games and now try to take up all my time with stuff like this. No wonder I can never study!

I dislike this. Why make a patch to Audio surf that is just a commercial for an other game that I have no interest in, for me this is not cool.

Sorry x3 I get very excitable when it comes to music, so I will sometimes forget to make sure I'm understandable. And no, I was looking for this.

I am loving Science Can Be Fun, too, but Reconstructing Science was what I've been waiting for. This soundtrack is already blowing Portal's insanely far out of the water, and we only seem to have two or three true songs.
Fixed the vid for ya :3, had an extra = there. And i actually wrote the reply several times, and every time though "hey, that's not the thing he meant!" The silly thing is, the very first one i thought up was the one you were asking for.
But yeah, the guy who uploaded the vid i posted originally had some links to the other music stuff that popped up with the ARG, Reconstructing Science included.

Seems to me Portal 2 will have a really awesome soundtrack. Though i have to say, Robots FTW is (well, at least for now) my favorite. It might not even be in the game, and it's no Still Alive, but still. Damn, I can't stop listening to it. all those bleeps and bloops come together and make such wonderful music.

You monster.

This is the power of companies promoting their own product. Can you imagine what the "ad agencies" advertisement of Portal 2 would have been like?

Almost certainly 'Chell in a low cut jump suit.

Yeah, Valve. Get those marketing folks writing code or designing levels right away! How hard can it be?

Oh, very xD It's a very happy little song, I'm expecting a lot of remixes in the near future. But Reconstructing Science is just taking me back to the announcement of Portal 2 itself, and then mixing it with the fact that the game is now so close to being out xD

Please proceed into Android hell

Awesome but it seems that Valve have thrown down the gauntlet to Escapist's own Miracle of Sound with that Audiosurf song.

Does anyone knows if I can still get this? This is so damn awesome! But I'm not a PC gamer, so I haven't really been paying attention 'til now.

What a dumb arguement.

It's ready, it should be released for those whw are intending on buying it regardless of their willingness to just through hoops for it.

So now money isn't good enough.. it's gonna cost you cash and a lot of pissing around?

You shouldn't be so quick to accept this kind of thing, it's yet more precidents being made. How much more bullshit is the industry going to throw at us? Drm, Dlc, now jumping through hoops... what other conditions are going to be tied to game releases in the future.

And... if I don't co operate, even though my money is as good as anyone else's I'll get it later because I'm not willing to be their lapdog.... Does no-one else see how fucking dumb this is?
Funny, I was thinking the same thing about yours.

The game comes out on April 19th whether you play the ARG thing or not. What is your problem exactly? No precedent is being set here. Games come out on their release dates. That's how it's worked since forever. And last time I checked, they aren't denying you access to the game if you don't participate in the Potato Sack stuff. And also last time I checked, it's only a rumor that they might release the game early on Steam, meaning you're throwing a temper tantrum over absolutely nothing right now. Maybe if the rumor turns out to be true, then you might have a case here. But even then, it's pretty weak. I guess you forgot about all those retail copies and how they still have to have a release date so that they'll have discs made and in stock at stores for people to buy. And you're also still forgetting that you can just get the game on April 19th, the normal release date, regardless of if you play or not. So again, there is no precedent being set here.

Seems to me you're just ranting for the sake of ranting.

I felt a little out of sorts about it. Mixed feelings.
It felt like there was something not quite right about it.
I've given it some thought... Valve just sprayed graffiti on my games.

On the one hand, I loved portal and I *am* interested in playing Portal 2 and the additions were pretty cool overall. I went looking to find them in all of the games. It was pretty funny GlaDos telling me that my musical taste for AudioSurf was old fashioned and that she would fix it for this test. Unexpected and witty.

On the other hand, Valve had updated games and added content as a pure marketing exercise. They added content to the games which altered the games I wanted to play to suit themselves.

However, I did feel a little put out by this invasive marketing tactic. OK, I purchased the potato sack, there were games I wanted to play in the compilation and it was cheap. I'm cash poor at the moment and 13 games for very few pounds was a bargain I couldn't resist.
I didn't realize though that I was giving permission to Valve to update the games with promotional content at a whim because of this deal.

Another thing, these updates were not small. Luckily I have recently upgraded my internet connection to a more civilised level but previously it was extremely slow (.5mbs) Downloading Halflife had to be done using a 3G dongle. If I hadn't improved my broadband, this would have induced the Rage!.

Also, during the update of these games, I couldn't play them. A minor inconvenience if it's going to fix bugs which would otherwise spoil my enjoyment. Then I was to find that they were being updated not to fix bugs at all but were to include content unrelated to the normal play of the games themselves.

As I've said, I'm interested in playing Portal2 - I think it's a clever game that deserves our support.
I'm not interested in playing horror games like L4D or Shooters like COD though and would be very very upset indeed if marketing content for games like that were to appear in my Steam games - as part of a mandatory update.

Call me paranoid, an old fart or a party pooper if you like; but while this particular exercise was funny, cool & novel; if it became a normal marketing practice it would soon become irritating, invasive & repelling.

I think that there is a line here and Valve are right up next to it with this. It feels like an abuse of power. Funny and innocent enough in this particular instance, but an abuse none the less.

There was a DLC added to Defense Grid: The Awakening (another of the potato sack games) called C.H.A.S., which consists of one new map set in a pale blue simulation. It has some weird pop-up dialogue that seems to be the creator making some inside jokes to another mapper, a guy named Tony. Not sure how it is related.

I WANT A PORTAL 2 MAP IN TF2. NOW. RIGHT. NOW.
Capture the Companion Cube, Sentries become turrets, stage hazards such as incinerators and energy pellets, an automatic Portal device spawning random portals all over the place, a boss fight with GLaDOS, maybe even a new form of Payload, where BOTH teams try and push the cart, but GLaDOS and the turrets are on the defense? seriously Valve, the possibilities are endless.
and don't worry about continuity. hell, the explaination for Bill's Hat is that it got knocked into an interdimensional portal. cmon Valve, do it. DO EET NAO.

Kinda sucks that I have to play all the games if the whole getting Portal 2 early thing is true. I don't have them all, and my 10-dollar-a-week allowance at this point makes it impossible to buy them all before Portal 2 comes out
