Aaaaargh..I'm confused. When do us Brits get the game then?
Not until Thursday for a Europe release apparently :(

OT: Oh Valve, you crafty, crafty bastards. How I love thee so!
Game.co.uk sent off my copy today. In the past, I have received preordered games the day after they have told me the game has been dispatched, but I'm not holding out to receive it tomorrow. More likely Wednesday or the actual release date. If I get it early I will be overjoyed.
I went with Play.com because I usually get new releases the day before... so here's hoping for a Wednesday delivery too! *crosses EVERYTHING*

Otherwise I'll be staring at Steam for the next 2 days trying to hold back...
I went with Game because I could get 2.50 off, and because of the preorder I got 800 points on my card. Managed to get 2.50 off on a new Xbox headset because mine conveniently broke last night.

Play.com are good with preorders, I have to say. Fallout New Vegas arrived the day before release last time I ordered from there :D

Question: When Audiosurf finished, did the potato number change? I was glancing at it when it changed and I caught movement more than the normal countdown, but I don't know if it went up or down.

EDIT: Nope. Potatoes are still going up, albeit slower than they're going down. And they don't change when a program finishes. Must've been my eyes.

Potato chips? They are just potatoes. You know, like how you can plug a light bulb or something into a potato and get the light to come on for a little while?

Nothing about the nine people currently playing Portal 2?
Yes, the Nine "Infected" Something about the best ARG players being sent over to Valve HQ and playing the game.

I hope to god there are no Last minute errors, even with the early launch. Like "were sorry, the steam servers have been over loaded, please try back in 6 hours". But damn it Valve if you don't make us all interested!

I can already see it.
Portal 2 will be released, and 10 minutes later Steam crashes.
And then G-Man comes in and dances the Macarena!

Still hoping the ending to Portal 2 ties directly into Half-Life (2 Episode) 3. Tomorrow I will be able to find out if I've been right all along, or simply wishful thinking.

Wait! So which countdown do I pay attention to. If it is the one at the bottom then I will probably have to get up at at around 7:30 to be one of the first to play it. Just as well I don't have school.

SOAB! Why does Tuesday have to be the day I have to work all day? Playing the demos did nothing to ease the anticipation. I need my fix!

The ARG page has a lot of speculation, but it looks like the Potatoes are being used to increase the rate of the timer's countdown by about 25%... as well as increase the total impact the logged-in CPUs have on the individual games' completion meters, which have impacted the countdown by forty to sixty-plus minutes for each completed meter.

My guess is that Valve has had the process monitored pretty precisely, and at the most, we're looking at a midnight release, rather than 10am.

Either way, I'm boned... I'm going with the PS3 version, and bought a physical copy for the PC for my sister, via Amazon. I'll be playing by Tuesday night, but not nearly as early as pure Steam users.
