I'd be inclined to say that forums in general have been getting worse and worse. It's amazing to see how many people are so ready to argue about stupid crap with people they don't know. It's one of the big reasons I haven't been very active around here for awhile.
I really think it's reflective of just how frustrated so many people are these days. Things are shitty lately so people are acting out their frustrations on random people they'll never meet.
It's safe, I guess. At least they aren't going crazy with a knife in the supermarket or anything.

I agree. The post she responded to was not an attack what so ever. It was someone expressing their view on Fascism and she didn't like it so she flamed them.
To those who were not connected with her, it's a pretty clear cut issue. You guys defending her are friends of her - and I understand why you are defending her, but you should at least acknowledge the huge amounts of bias you are exhibiting.
OP: You do realize directly insulting other users (even mods) is against the rules. Trying to add a addendum of your point being proved right if you do incur mod wrath for it doesn't make it so if you violated the rules in the process of stating that point.
OT: The rules exist to encourage a sense of community and discussion. Nobody would bother speaking up if there was a unquestioned elite due to popularity that where there constantly to call them stupid for disagreeing with them. Hence the insult rule.
They are usually pretty lenient on jokes (unless they don't realize it is a joke), and definitely lenient on calling an idea or opinion dumb, but they don't tolerate direct attacks. The reason enforcement can see so sporadic is because the mods don't exactly patrol the forums. The report button you see under every post is there so that you, the community can decide what you find offensive, and report it.
There have been times where reporting was so sporadic they lowered the bar on what becomes visible to the mods in the mod queue. At times it has been as low as one user reporting a post adds it to the mod queue.
The best thing you can do to help shape the place how you want it is to use that report button anytime you see a user breaking a rule, don't wait for you yourself to be insulted.

It happens every time a high post count celeb gets banned, even Indigo Dingo had people rooting for him and hardly everyone liked him while he was around. TheNecroswanson took to insulting people left and right before he got banned and still people where calling it unjustified, pointing to only the post he was banned for and asking it that was really worthy of a ban.Sanguinius- The Angel said:
