Thank God. I was starting to think I was going crazy or I was remembering her wrong, as so many people seem to miss her. Is this also why I've been seeing her avatar everywhere?

I didn't know her personally either, but from the few posts I've seen her made, she was acting pretty bitchy (i.e. either insulting or flaming). The mods here are actually really strict in comparison to those in other forums, but I really doubt they banned her cuz she was anti-capitalist or whatever. :|

I think we agree, should we apply to the escapist archives so we have this occasion officially noted? In other words there is really no point in even continuing this debate. The only thing this thread can really culminate in is a flame war. (Hence why i brought my custom flamethrower)

It always sucks when people with high post counts get banned, especially if they're interestiing like Teddy and the long gone Max the Reaper. But even more interesting people come to this sight.

It is really annoying when things make massive changes while you're busy with someting else, it was especially confusing when I came back to TF2 and found myself surrounded by fish weilding fiens.

If by "interesting" you mean "jerks" then I agree with you. Insulting others and instigating fights over silly things is not my idea of interesting. Teddy was alright, but some of her lashing out was kind of over trivial things.

Interesting as in a different opinion on things that would go against the majority. I guess as a lurker I could not feel the heat of those flames and viewed them as just entertainment, but it was interesting.

OT: Not exactly the same, but back in middle school days I would watch WWF a bit. I stopped watching for a extended period and when I tried watching it again I was like "wtf is this shit!?" Of course that may just be because I grew out of it, but still.

I'm sorry, but that is the reason WHY people like you get banned. Because you refuse to listen to reason and behave. This isn't your fucking playground where you can run around and do whatever the hell you want. I have plenty of good friends on the Moderation team, and I can vouch for every single one of them, they DO NOT abuse they're power.
The Moderation Team has given her plenty of chances. If the constant Suspensions and Probations weren't a sign of that, I don't know what is. She refused to listen and this is what it has lead to. Blame her, not them.

I was kinda hoping we could get through this banning without one of these threads, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case (Though to be fair, the OP wasn't around the site). I'm not gonna lie about Demented Teddy being an interesting person, but what I can say is that she had it coming. People, she wasn't banned because of her ideology. She wasn't banned because she was a Fascist, she was banned because she liked to pick fights and insult people. Did anyone even look at the post she got punished for? She made a series of racist jokes that got her in a lot of trouble and now, not even a week before getting off her suspension, she got into an argument and took a picture of herself flipping off the user she was arguing with. She had this coming.

It was more of a reference to being banned for political viewpoint rather then valid evidence. Why else would i even mention politics? True I assumed everyone knew her particular opinion, but I figured her reputation proceeded her, especially when most posters at least in this thread seem to know her despite their opinions. The rest of it was designed to antagonize the moderators on this site, they are rather notorous for linear acceptance.

I don't even know if I even new her, it's hard for me to keep track with so many people on here. But, I looked at the link for what she was banned for, and I agree with the mods. She wasn't banned for her political views. The reason is obvious, she posted a picture of a middle finger towards the person she was responding to. It doesn't matter if she was defending herself or whatever. If a person acts that way towards another user, it doesn't matter if he or she is being attacked/flamed, it is grounds for being banned. In the face of flaming one should be calm, cool, and collected. If the person isn't than the flamer wins. I have had my moments where I wasn't sure if what I said would get me a warning or whatever, but I have never our right mentally assaulted another user, even though I have been called just about every name in the book, mainly for my Conservative views.

From what I can tell, the middle finger picture was just the last straw in long line of offenses that went against forum rules. I've only used the report button a few times, but if another user posted such a picture towards me, I would have pressed the report button.

Is the possibility of some 'iconic' individual getting banned so incomprehensible? That being said it is rather depressing that people that are somewhat interesting/entertaining get banned for hurting someone's precious feelings over the internet.

They locked the Thread Max got banned in because it was a mess of yelling, flaming and bad grammar. They would do that to any thread with the same problem. Just because Max was involved doesn't mean it would change that. Trust me on that, I was in that thread when Max got in. It was nothing, but a guy complaining about PVP servers in World of Warcraft.

And no, Banned users are essentially dead to the Escapist. They can't do anything that an active member can do. No PMs, No groups, No forums, nothing.

On your first comment: Offenses build up, it is like a permanent record. She most likely had multiple offenses.

On your second comment: So, what if it was someone nobody liked? Or someone that was neutral? Do they get banned first, over liked people?

Nobody should be exempt from the rules. It is the whole problem with the US government. Officials that do criminal acts and other offenses, barely get a slap on the wrist if anything. While the common people if they do such things, are thrown in jail.

It doesn't matter if someone is liked on this site, if he or she racks up the offenses, they should be banned just like anybody else that accumulates the same.

Nobody is exempt, no special treatment.

This is a discussion forum, and we take out discussions as important. It's a good thing to discuss, not so much to go into directionless chatter.

Secondly, mods do not discuss moderator action. There are appeal processes that any given user can undertake, which go directly to the staff in charge. Any external communication otherwise is pointless by nature. A thread about it would certainly only accomplish in dividing the community rather than getting an important point across to the persons that need to see it. Before we go to any conclusions, let's wait until the work week starts up again.

Thirdly, I'd like to point out "De mortuis nil nisi bonum dicendum est." Roughly translated, means "Speak no ill of the dead." This is a phrase existing since at least 1432, and one that I think very much applies here. I would not allow any user to speak rudely to any other user, and this kindness extended not only to current users, but previous and future users as well. I'll let everything preceding this post slide, but anything after this post will be treated with extra harshness. Consider this your warning, any rudeness in this thread, henceforth, will be treated as a second offense (at the very least). This is your only warning.

Let's keep it civil here, guys. Regardless of what has happened, or will happen, The Escapist does it's best to keep this a positive environment for everyone. Regardless of who they are, what their nationality, or their religious or political beliefs. If you feel you have been wronged unjustly, there is an appeal process, not to mention steps you can take. Making a thread complaining, and badmouthing the staff or moderation team is not the way to do that. It just makes things worse.

Anyway, let's get this thread back on topic, and on the right track.
