Odd I didn't think they showed minor's faces in the news.

Anyways its not too surprising I recall when the PS3 came out a kid mugged a guy and when the police came to arrest him they shot him dead because they thought the controller was a gun.

The one with the gun should be locked away, but the hate for the other three baffles me. I'd say just having to watch someone die and someone else get shot is punishment enough.

Why did the guy think approaching a gun wielder armed with only a baseball bat was a good idea? I applaud his efforts, and am saddened to see him die for this, but I don't follow his logic.

I'm sad to hear about this. It's a shame when such heinous actions arise over such petty things. And the individuals in question...They're beyond help. In prison, they'd just consume resources.

I support a firing squad. 5.56mm rounds, center of mass. Three round burst, each. They will not be missed.

Wow, video games and appliances related to them are treated with the seriousness of a drug deal now?

All that over a DS as well. Poor guy.

The one that fired the gun needs to get tried as an adult. It doesn't matter if he is 13 or 16. He killed a man and needs to be severely punished for it. The other three need to be severely punished as well. They knew what they were doing was wrong yet they still did it.

Wait, if someone came at me with a baseball bat, I might fucking shoot him.

Ever been hit with a bat? It hurts.
But over a shitty ds? Wow. That's tragic.

On the brighter side, he died doing what he believed was right. And you know what? He was right! A pity he died, especially over a goddamn NDS.

Not having a go at you personally, your wording there seems a little close to a worrying trend in the media for me to feel comfortable.

A lot of reports of these sort of thing will present the criminals as the victims. While it is true that their lives are likely to be ruined, IMHO that's really not the right way of looking at it.

You hear cries of "How could this have happened to them?", or worse, "But they are good people, really", and there's often a tendency to close ranks around them.

Now, asking "What went wrong?" is a legitimate question, but it shouldn't be taken to lessen what they've decided to do.

Again, not having a go at you personally, just pointing out a trend.

Line up the firing wall.

Why should people waste their money through taxes to keep morons like this alive with three meals a day and a roof over their heads?

Perhaps I'm just an apathetic person though.

These people are salvageable. Better people have come from worse.

Punishment. Rehabilitation.

But retribution? Extermination?

This is fucked up. Seriously...what the hell is wrong with kids these days?

It's to the point where if some child is mugging me (I've seen it happen on the subway) I'm about to just say here, take my damn phone. I'll notify my renters insurance and get a replacement. I don't care.

Because seriously. These children have guns half the time and I don't trust a little kid who knows nothing about repercussions not to pull it and shoot if I try (and believe you and me, I'd succeed) to kick their ass.

It's simply not worth it anymore.

This is tragic. Probably hitting me more close to home because I live in a shitty area, am the same age and would have done the same thing :(

That's my point, though. Letting him live would just waste space/resources. In California, it costs $50,000 to take care of one prisoner for one year.

One bullet costs less than $5.

You see which is more cost effective, no?
well actually one bullet cost's less than 1 dollar. also it cost's more than 50k to invoke the death penalty.

Wow, just wow, Kill those bastards. Don't even bother with the electric chair, or even a noose. Just shoot them. It's more than they deserve.

Sorry really quick technicality, LA country =/= LA. Small complaint but it bugged me a little that everyone is talking about LA when the article said Canyon Country. I am in and out of LA a couple times a week and I have no idea where this Canyon Country is.

OT. Jeepers kids these days. They should have just hocked the gun and got A LOT more money, and probably would not have gotten a guy killed.

lets kick it old testament style!... stone em'...

people like this are a waste of space, i feel bad for the man who lost his life, and the family that is now missing a member. they should be made to suffer, more to be an example to future idiots who don't respect human life.

A Nintendo DS is NOT worth a human life!

My sympathy goes out to the samaritan family.
