I didn't mean conservatives period, I meant the "hate is a family value america #1 lets be assholes because we're the best" kind, which on reflection is more lawful stupid than conservatism.
I agree with you. I think conservatism is stupid. I mean, for a developing species, holding onto old stuff is stupid, because reminiscing, memorials and tradition never got us anywhere. What moves us forward is new things, discoveries, science and, well, thinking with our brains instead of using it for soaking up drainwater from TV and whatnot.

I agree with you here, but I contest the meaningless of the deaths. World War II was one of the few meaningful wars, and they did help bring down the Nazi's.
Well, meaningful for war. I also agree war is stupid, I just meant meaningful by the standards of retardation. Still foolish, though, and we only had to do it because of how thick Hitler was.
If by meaningful, you mean defeat a little lunatic German man with a hilarious mustache, I agree. That idiot had to go. I'm not arguing with you here, just saying things. But I think you can see, that the real purpose of that war was, in fact, not to defeat the nazis. They could've done that 5 seconds after the war broke out, but they didn't. Hitler invaded Poland, nothing happened. Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia, still nothing. But when the Wermacht hit France, all hell broke loose. The world gone batshit insane, and everyone started attacking everyone. It wasn't about Hitler or the Nazis anymore, it was about "hey, they are fighting, let's go have some war for us too" (well, that is oversimplifying it, but I'm too tired to write a wall of text now, sry)

Personally, I don't want to remember WWII or any war for that matter, and I think most of the people would rather forget them too. But some retards in the US are working hard to push our noses into the fact, that THEY won that war, and THEY "liberated" the whole world, and they are heroes and...ehh. Movies, books, games, everything is about how they totally pwned WWII, and they make damn sure we know that too. I don't think I need to recite history lessons, but frankly, what the US did in that war, was a dick move and not a heroic act. Again, no offense. And again, I hate war.

Oh, just misread it. Simple misunderstanding. Still stand firm that I'm not represented by fox, and neither are many Americans.
I don't watch Fox (in fact, I don't watch TV at all), and I doubt many outside the US does, so I think you are safe there. Our preconceptions and opinions of the US mainly comes from our countries' media, which is far worse in my case, believe me.

I wasn't arguing with you, in fact I was mostly agreeing with you. Just don't want to approach a flame-war by the standards of The Escapist.
Flame war? Nah. We are just discussing stuff here, like (semi-)intelligent people. No flame war here ;) If it does get outta hand, we take it to PMs.

It's just journalists trying to make names for themselves by being pretentious jackasses.
Conservative journalism. Liberal journalism is only a bloated form of media that uses fear to sell stories. Conservative journalism acts like an asshole about everything to pretty much the same effect.

or
D-day which was...well you know.
Yeah, I've been feeling that on a daily basis, so I've just gone with being an Iranian immigrant temporarily living in America until I can make the money to see my family in Germany.

And if they posted D-Day images America would ***** about bringing back past aggressions or they would ***** about having gruesome images on the front page, or they would ***** about something else that is too stupid too comprehend.

I have this strange notion that if Google did (somehow) make a logo to commemorate D-Day, then the same group of people would get offended on behalf of the veterans.

Honestly, who the hell decided that this is actually important? D-Day may be the most famous military operation of World War 2, but there were plenty of bigger and bloodier ones. Do you want Google to drop everything they're doing to celebrate every single important battle?

And anyway, Google is a fairly international site, it doesn't necessarily have to be tied to every American holiday (not that this even is a holiday). And, D-Day wasn't just the Americans, it holds importance for a lot of countries. The US, Canada, and the UK participated in the landings, France hosted the shindig, and the Germans were the good sports who let us kick them around a little...or a lot.

I don't get why people care. The Normandy invasion was one of the most influential events in war history, but Tetris kicked insane amounts of ass. Besides, it's not being "anti-american". There were more than just Americans in WW2. WORLD war 2. Not American War 2.
Ok. Point is, whogivesacrap?

My typical response to this kind of crap: Who cares?

More importantly, what were they supposed to do? Use the corpses of soldiers to arrange their letters?
I was kind of wondering about that too....
Here is a great idea! Have the people, who are stupid enough to complain, just try to create a tasteful monument to D-Day that looks like Google.

I can't believe people are taking notice of this idiot...
I wish people would talk about me whenever I say something stupid.
