I believe it will either be Uncharted 2, Assassin's Creed 2, or Modern Warfare 2. All of them are sequels hahaha.

I may be a fanboy of the first one, however it has good reason to win.
Infinity Ward have made 3 games all of which have become increasingly better.
Their first game, Call of duty even got Goty from multiple reviewers and the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.
Many people still play Call of duty 4, even though it is almost 2 years old.
Infact, Call of duty 4 is the 2nd most played game on xfire, followed by Call of Duty 2.
(Number one is WoW but you know, thats mmorpg's for you.)
These people know how to make an Action game.
(The only thing i see going wrong is lack of dedicated server support leading to lack of multiplayer which was the main replayability of Call of Duty 4 ,grr.)
There are so many other great games out this year but the question is, will i still be playing them next year, or in two years time?

As much as I would like to see Forza 3 take GOTY, because it's likely to be the most enjoyable game for me personally this year, I just don't think the racing genre is popular enough right now to take a GOTY title. The game that wins GOTY is almost always of whatever genre is trendy at the time. Thus, this year's GOTY will almost certainly be an FPS. Failing that, an RPG might have a slim shot at it.
I love how everyone thinks that the Internet gathers it's collective thought together to name a game GOTY. Every website and every print magazine has it's own GOTY and to say that one game wins 'GOTY' over all is just stupid. You might be able to count up the popular publications but you'll never be able to find them all and name a game the true 'GOTY'.
However, if the Internet were a Hive Mind like creature I'd have to say DA:O will win, and heres why. It's essentially a Baldurs Gate game and I imagine that everyone who chooses what a GOTY is going to have been gaming back when Baldurs Gate was the shit and most likely loved it themselves. tHe game is going to be a Bioware game, so you can tell it's going to be good. I mean, Mass Effect was a serious contender for GOTY back in 08 (as it came out at the start of 08 I think) and even won some GOTY awards. 'Epic' games tend to get the reward, and jusdging from what I've seen DA
looks rather epic. Publications like to surpise people with their GOTY awards while not choosing a game that no one would suspect, DA:O seems to fit this spot perfectly.
Although it really depends on the website/magazine making the list. Someything that sides with FPS is obviously going to choose MW2 while a game that sides with RTS will pick Empire:Total War or something.

IMO, would be these:
- Uncharted 2 (It is a good contender, but not enough to win by a landslide)
- Batman AA (Great game, but IMO it's lacking for me)
- Modern Warfare 2 (This will most likely win for its story and multiplayer)
- Borderlands (Kind of lacks for me as a single player experience but great nevertheless)
- God of War 3 (If it's a contender, it's possible it would win)
