This thread begs for Portal. Thing is though, that if Valve wanted to lengthen the game, which I really think they should and which they are probably looking into right now, it really needs some new types of puzzles or mechanics. Stuff that will turn things on their head a bit.

I would say Far Cry. The game itself actually takes a long time to beat, and to be honest not many people reached the end. But at a certain point you could tell when the dev team was stretching things with indoor environments and cookiecutter, untested levels. I just wish the experience of the first few levels, moving stealthily, approaching situations how you want, and primarily fighting human enemies, had lasted a bit longer.
Yeah. I enjoyed it up until you go to another island. Then I just tuned out and lost interest. I enjoy sneaking up behind people and thrashing them with my claws, then if just gets a bit weird. Like it's trying to do a Half Life and you have exploding zombies running at you. Ruined the experience for me.

Would it have been as good? I think they perhaps should've put in 2 or 3 more levels where you have the white decor and less of it sort of behind the scenes. That part seems to drag on for me personally. Was hilarious though.

Half Life 2, or any sequel with the word "Episode" in the name.

Portal.

Any game set in the Half Life universe.

The bits of Half Life 2 where you get the "Enhanced" Gravity Gun.

The Ravenholm section of Half Life 2.

Every section of Half Life 2.

Did I mention Half Life 2?

then the depression lol
Epic.......
Strangely, all the games take waayy too long, save for portal. And maybe HL Ep 2.

Edit: Oh yea... crysis..... My friend took 1/2 hour to go from point A to point B (of the objectives). All I did was turn on Maximum speed and just rush past areas to complete stuff he failed to complete (in 20 mins, not less) in only 2~4. Truly an epic and awesome adventure, proving that u don't HAVE to kill everyone you see.

Star Wars: Republic Commando, awesome game. However, too short and no sequel :(
Seconded.

Call of Duty 4's single player wasn't quite long enough for me, either. Neither was Gears of War.

Great games that are way too short: The definition of the God of War games...how i loved those DEATH FESTS...even though it only took 1-2 days to complete. Then again i didnt sleep until i had seen the next save point..and the next..maybe just one more

Steambot Chronicles. I went through the main storyline, including some sidequests, in under 12 hours. And I'm a guy who usually doesn't finish games. Luckily, scoring a perfect 100% takes a lot more time, but really, the mainquest should be way longer.

I'd say TLoZ: The Wind Waker, It was a good game but I was disappointed that there was no Water Temple, instead the big fish just GIVES the pearl to you, plus there was too much faffing about like collecting Triforce shards and maps. Still a good game though.

No More Heros was way to short.
I have to completely agree. It's unfortunate that the story is way twisted as well. I remember finishing the game, going "Huh?" and then playing it three more times with the same response to the storyline. xD Maybe it's just a Suda 51 thing...

Anyone else feel that Zelda: Ocarina of Time was a tad short? It's easily beatable in a day, even with all the side quests and what not.

Also, Assassin's Creed, Too Human, and all the Metal Gears are just a few others that I wish were longer. =[

Way of the Samurai for PS2. OK, It wasn't the greatest game ever. You could play the game in tons of different ways leaving room for tons of replays. I just wanted it to be longer...

I don't mind games being short. Often a game is short, not because the developer is lazy or wants to rip you off, but because they've put so much effort into it to ensure that every second is amazing, rather than just repeating things to make the game longer. I'd much rather play a game like this (e.g. COD4, Metal Gear Solid) than one which starts off promising but then just keeps on repeating itself (e.g. Half Life 2).

Twilight Princess. It's not the length, but the fact that it's so easy, which in turn makes a big game last for little time, which was a tear jerker as i watched ganondorf be slain.

If portal where any longer it would be repetitive.
