Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. It's powered by pure willpower and determination, it uses massive drills as weapons and in its last battle it gets so huge it uses galaxies as stepping stones.
As insane and beyond the impossible as TTGL might be, you can't beat the original giant space robot.

Exclaimation: How dare you, meatbags! Inferriing me inferior to superfluious droids that are...
nonetheless sympathetic to meatbags! Repulsive! Inexplicable!
Conjecture: You cannot possibly fathom how far my frustration with these statements can implore! Intolerable!

The best robot is and always will be Hypernova, and none of you have ever heard of him.

I despair.

Shit, no one mentions ADA? Zone of Enders, Jehuty's detached backup battle-intelligence. Both a robot and a love interest, how can you go wrong? Or for that matter, cortana, but since she is strictly AI she counts less.

Yes- that's the true Marvin. Then again, I am in a state of denial about The Hitchhiker's Guide ever being made into a film, so I'm biased...

Damn- I completely forgot about Kryten! He is absolutely awesome, not to mention quite silly (I know that everyone's rather silly in Red Dwarf, but Kryten's silliness seems justified, don't you think?)

EDIT: .........Where's Kryten?......... Tell me where he is, jim_doki!

Honorable mention to this video: 1:36 to 1:52 [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKcDa0Kp2K8].

Most of the good ones have been named already. Although I'd also like to send a shout-out to RAK Autonomous Intelligence, while not a robot, is definitely hardcore.

You do enjoy changing your avatar, don't you, NewClassic? Ah well- this new incarnation of you is quite nice (although I was just getting to love the old one)

It's okay, NewClassic... I do, too (my first avatar here was a bit of the coast of Ireland, so a change to a fractal is jarring for some, to say the least)

If Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation was acceptable for a semblance of a robot, I'd choose him

Wall-E and GIR are the best by far but just so we don't leave anyone out how about Gort, Robbie the Robot and the Metropolis fembot.

Oh also Tom Servo and Crow.
