Gritty Remakes That Should Exist

Captain Planet, seriously have the characters having split up and aged in real time since the tv. Then Maati has to go and around and re-unite them to save the day. Stuff like Wheeler lighting a ladies cigarette with his ring outside a casino or Kwami sinking milita bandits trying to steal medicine with his earth ring in Africa.
Can't really think of any movies but I know a ton of games and shows that need to stop being dipped in sissy sauce(*cough Final Fantasy cough*)
I honestly don't believe in gritty reboots, or reboots in general for that matter. Now if it's something like the aforementioned Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Grimm's Fairy Tales, where the original work was dark and gritty, but subsequent adaptations have watered it down, then yeah, a reboot with the express intent of bringing the adaptations in line with the source material is entirely justified; just keep your dark, gritty reboots out of my light, hopeful series, and we'll get along just fine.
[sub]For the record, the original TMNT comics rule, as do the uncensored fairy tales; I don't like it when a series is so dark that it's depressing, but I quite enjoy an occasional splash of darkness, as long as it isn't the only flavor of fiction available.[/sub]

They already made a gritty reboot of Ed Edd and Eddy, it's called The Movie.emeraldrafael said:

Well, it needed to wrap things up, and remember, at the time the core audience was much older and looked in for deeper plot, while still having that safe warm fuzzy familiar feeling. And alot of that was shown throughout the series itself, so it fit in.the protaginist said:

In other news, to avoid any repeats, I think a gritty version of Code Lyoko would be interesting. Also Dexter's Lab (though admittedly, Snafu [http://ppg.snafu-comics.com/index.php?comic_id=82] and Fusion Fall [http://fusionfall.cartoonnetwork.com/splashpage.php] sort of have that covered already, but a TV series would be awesome). Also, Chaotix. They got close in a way, but I think to truly have something great they should have gone farther with the grittiness.
And maybe Codename Kids Next Door--that could be very interesting >:-D

Actually, call me weird, but I'm a guy who would seriously watch a gritty-action remake of "My Little Pony." I imagine it would be kind of like He-Man, only will more shots of people/horses/things being impaled by unicorn-horns.

I remember an article in an old issue of Nickelodeon Magazine where they combined video games. one was Pokemon mixed with Resident Evil. you had to play as Ash Ketchum in a hazmat suit. you go around, avoiding red-eyed Squirtle's acidic vomit as you captured them in pokeballs with biohazard signs on em. i need to find that pic... it was SO badass...
