This was an interesting story.

Not because of the info on more hackings going down, but because I just learned that there's something called "Sega Pass".

What confuses me is that there's nothing to be gained by this. I haven't heard anything about anyone having his identity stolen in any of these hacks - not a one. If whoever's doing this hacking is doing it just for fun, that sounds like textbook sadism (or dissocial personality disorder, if you'll forgive me using the Internet to diagnose people I've never met with mental illnesses with which I'm not terribly familiar).

EDIT: So Lulzsec wants Sega to contact them for help? Why doesn't Sega take them up on that offer and then alert the authorities? You've got a group of criminals willing to give out contact information, right?
I feel like it's just misplaced priorities and a lack of focus. They have all this hacking ability, but nothing to do with that power. So they hit a few big names to get themselves in the news and establish themselves. Now they have this new initiative that apparently involves teaming up with Anonymous and other hackers to start attacking government and banks, or whoever they deem corrupt/manipulative/whatever.

So maybe they're falling into the same old pseudo-anarchist, politically-active role that Anonymous has been in for a while. Whatever. They'll find they need the system as much as anyone else (like, who's their ISP?). I'm not against change or reform, but I'm worried they'll inspire a change for the worse. It's a kind of vigilantism that might upset a few people, but will just end in tighter restrictions for us regular folk.

As for SEGA contacting them, I'm sure they mean through the regular untraceable channels they've been using for a while now.

As if I wasn't paranoid already, now I got F*cking hackers to worry about... as long as they don't attack Valve or steam, though, It should be at least somewhat fine for PC games...
So basicly, "Not all was lost..."

Anyway, if the government can find the location of a national terrorist, why can't they find the address of these wankers and get rid of them? I mean, seriously, they use Twitter, which would probably be very easy for them to get info, and, with a little counter hacking, may stop these morons...

Of course, what do I know, im just a teenager...

It wasn't LulzSec. They offered to help Sega hunt down these hackers because they, "loved the Dreamcast."

So good to know we've got more than one bunch of hackers going after game companies for no raisin...
Nah, they're just trying to improve public image or something. A bit too late if you ask me, nobody takes them seriously anymore, especially when they are supposedly going to do something good for a change.

Fortunately the only decent Sega game I've played in years was AvP.

Here's to hoping these tards don't lead to increased internet regulation!

What's SEGA pass?
Anyway, I am glad I give out fake info on such stuff 99,9999997 % of the time.
Also I have 3 passwords; 1 especially for junk that doesn't matter.

So if SEGA gets hacked and my pass gets out they can only access other bogus, obscure stuff with the pass. The other 2 are for very well secured services only ;)

Edit: Nevermind thought it was sony. It's sega my bad

But still, I had no idea that online security for everything evidently consisted of an AVG free edition and some virtual pot-bellied inbred with a shotgun sitting on their customers stuff.

I agree with everything that RSVP42 has said. Why do people find the time to do this kind of shit? Personally, I don't mind people just hacking their own stuff to do something it couldn't. But to cause an inconvenience to millions of people just to prove a point is what pisses me off the most.

These so called "Hacktivists" need to grow up, get a life, and stop fucking everyone over. It's infuriating to the point of madness.

Doubt it was LulzSec, as they haven't mentioned anything on their twitter about it. (plus I think they liked SEGA (or was it just Nintendo?))
Haha, they do it for lulz. So it's most likely not them. I mean, previously, they have never stolen anything. But, now lets watch the huge influx of lulzsec accusations, and maybe a few Anon accusations, it'll be fun. They pretty much like companies that don't treat their customers like shit, so Sega and Nintendo are likely both safe, but if I were to have a hitlist of companies to hack for fun
Stop saying words now. Please?

"Doing it for the lulz" is the saddest, most fucked up excuse for illegal activity I have EVER heard. What the fucking fuck. Previously they haven't stolen anything? BULLSHIT. They posted user details of people publicly online and ENCOURAGED people to use them for personal attacks!

They are CRIMINALS. NOT heroes. Stop fucking treating them as such.

The claims from Anon (the 4chan fuckwits, not the actually honest politically focused folks who have actually done GOOD things) and LulzSec have consistently been "We rule the internet, we demand everyone does what we say!" No, fuck right off. What the hell kind of hypocrisy is that? Saying "we're doing this to support free speech and privacy" when THEY are invading privacy themselves and making everything about them.

The sooner they piss off and we actually have some god damn maturity around here, the better.

In before Lulzsec accusations. Hopefully shit like this will send a message to the industry and protect themselves better from hack attacks.
Well fuck, anyhow I bet it was those crazy bastards.
From the LulzSec twitter:

LulzSec The Lulz Boat
@Sega - contact us. We want to help you destroy the hackers that attacked you. We love the Dreamcast, these people are going down.
17 Jun
I would say they had nothing to do with it.
Oh, now they're dictating who they attack whether they LIKE the company or not? Fuck off, LulzSec..

Just because THEY don't like Sony's products, Apple's products, whoever's.. Does NOT give them any right to attack those companies and claim they're "doing good". That's bullshit. They're doing CRIMINAL activities. They don't DESERVE any praise.

First of all, no one is treating them like heroes. This is exactly the situation that bothers me the most. Things like this will only lead to more legislation and laws making the daily lives of honest citizens needlessly harder. I simply repeated what they have stated their motives are, and that is actually what I laughed at, because it's so insanely ridiculous. Also, I was making a joke because people will almost always point at the culprits of the few offenses they know about, which is also ridiculous, and accuse them just because they need someone to blame.

You have no right to accuse me of being immature. I made a harmless post, and I am dealing with this annoyance that is internet hacking and griefing by removing my information from these sites, any of which could be the next target. By my calculations, by taking responsibility for it, I am probably the only person I know who is being mature about this.

It seems I have an apology to make. I'm sorry for my accusations, they were unjustified. Thank you for clarifying further.

I completely agree with you there.. I just don't see why this even has to be a problem. This is a social media generation. People share stuff now. Obviously not personal stuff, but it's a lot more open to connecting with other people. These bastard hackers come in and ruin it for everyone..
