Half-Life. It is a game. It is a game about a scientist among scientists specially trained in weapon. It's about survival after a mix-up made the aliens come to us. It's about crowbaring stuff.

But that's not all. Do you guys know what Half-Life also is? What it was first? What Valve probaly got both the idea for the name and the idea for the logo from?

Yes. It's scientific

It is a mathematical term to determining when something has lost half of it's quantity. Hence "half". Do you guys know what I'm talking about, or is this as new to you as it was for me?

As long as you had few classes of Chemistry, you should know what half life is. From a scientific point of view.

Half Life is one of the best FPS games ever made.

Okey. I must have done the terrible mistake of solely enjoying it as a game. But seriously I've never heard of "half-life" other than when I learned this.
And yeah. Sure. I guess I was wrong. Valve probaly made it entirely around this process. I just didn't know that. And as I said I'm obviously the only one =P

But come on. There is so much out there that you should know "after only a couple of chemestry classes" that for this statement to be true, those couple of classes have to have the lengt of ages.

But again. I did not have a seperate class of chemestry. At least it was not called chemestry. It was called something else. And we had this class including a lot of other stuff too. So I guess the school I went to is just a bit too stupid for your standards

Yes, Half-life is the amount of years that it takes for half the radioactive isotopes in an object (or living thing) to decay into a more stable atoms. For example; it takes 5,700 years for 50% of the carbon-14 in an (no longer) living thing to decay into nitrogen-14. using this scientists can date objects (even rocks using plutonium-238) and dead things back to a specific date.

No, this is not new to me but is still interesting(I'm a total science buff). Suprisingly, this is the first time that memorising(I remembered all that off the top of my head) the definition of half-life/carbon dating has ever come up in a conversation, let alone been useful.

p.s. If anyone would like to have a long conversation on science (chemical and physical) I'm up for it. No one ever finds this stuff interesting but me.

I haven't even taken Chemistry. I just read the entire Science book one day because I was bored with class.

Because .. As you might have seen. I did not know this. And yes. If you would be ever so kind and read comments, you'd see that I am now (after posting the thread) aware that everyone except me knows this (What you want me to do? I did not know everyone knew this, because it was completely new to me. You want me to delete the thread or something?).
And why post something that can be read on wikipedia? Do you go around on every 15th thread and post this?
