The average size of a friends list is only 25 (Major Nelson) so any upgrade, let alone one that would neuter, at the very least, one popular title is completely unnecessary.

Thank god for the 100 friend cap. I have so many people begging (even to the level of wanting to pay) to be on my friend's list, I need something to keep them away.
Wow, I wish was that popular. What on Earth would people want to pay you for to be on their friend's list?

OT, I really haven't found a need to have anymore than 100 friends. Most of the time there's really only about 4 people I play with everyday. But I guess for those that use Live for social networking there is always that sad option.

While im not a fan of the series, my friends forced me to play them.. /sigh

Anyway, if I had to chose, id stick with Halo 2 over 3. Halo 3 just seems so....clumsy..clunky. Somewhere between those words.

Nobody I repeat, nobody needs more than 100 friends on Xbox live. There's no way you can keep track of that many people and maintain that many relationships.

Really? People should just play Halo 3 instead if they're that whiny, I mean I'm surprised it still supports Halo 2.
Who are we to judge what games people can't play, especially if they are also paying for it. I have 44 friends on XBL and I think thats too much, so why should people that aren't playing Halo 2 be so greedy? Who really wants 100 friends? And I personally love Halo 2's multiplayer a lot better than Halo 3's, it's more fun.

After being in numerous conversations who say they are popular because of X many friends on facebook, I support their choice. The friends list should be for FRIENDS, not useless 'popularity points.'

Halo 2 is still one of the top 3 multiplayer games on Xbox Live. Maybe not in amount of people playing, but definitely in the quality department. There has yet to be any multiplayer game for me, even CoD4, that has surpassed the fun or level of competition that Halo 2 holds to this day.

I think it's admirable that Microsoft aren't kicking off gamers who play older titles.

I play older titles all the time. I wouldn't like it if the developers suddenly stopped me from playing quake 3 Arena/ Quake live (and if they did it doesn't matter I'd go out and buy Quake Wars or Q4), or any old game for that matter.

Currently could care less about the cap size of my friends list. Would rather the fix the more important issues. RROD comes to mind.

Pretty cool that they're actually staying dedicated to the few who still play Halo 2. Bigs up to them for that I guess.

Out of spite I want them to allow the friend number to be increased...but out of teh fact I dont like people who care about having so many 'friends', (and the fact Id hate not being able to play a game I like myself ie karma) I cant say do it. In the end, I would have to say leave it alone, even if the Halo 2 online community is where my hate for Halo fans came from.

I completely understand why MS hasn't given in yet. Halo 2 is much better in gameplay terms than Halo 3. Anyway, who needs to have more than 100 friends? I have about 40 friends and I could probably remove half without a problem. Almost everybody I know only plays with a small group of people most of the time.

Kudos to them. They don't want to alienate people further but that game stopped being fun online after modders took over the game to snipe in the world's
most "dear god why the fuck would you snipe from there you fucking cheating bastard" places.

it's weird because i have 101 friends,

It's Weird, but I'm not complaining.
do you really talk to all 101,or are they just there for some trumped up reason that made sense at the time, but now sounds pretty weak?
