because to most publishers consider customers who don't say yes and amen to their bullshit practices to be filthy evil pirate-thief-rapist-terrorists. and it works, for years people believed the "PC gaming is dying because of piracy" bullshit

i heard that MC finds a cloning facility where some of his DNA is used to create a race of super humans and he ends up fleeing in that facility(which was actually a stranded and overgrown ship) to crash land on Sera, finally explain why everyone in gear is absurdly muscular.

Woah woah woah, Halo 4 is that close to release?

To further the woah woah woah, theres a Halo 4 coming out?

The only reason I'm shocked is that I've barely heard of it, not a lot of web-wank going on about it.

There's no indication that the games out there actually have been bought from a retailer so it's easier to claim that copies have been stolen and distributed rather than to blame retailers which might get offend them.

OT: I am not surprised this game has been leaked. Almost any major title seems to have this going for them. A part of me almost suspect them of doing it just to get more hype for the game, but it might just be the work of employees earning extra money from selling games that aren't out yet for a lot more than market value. I suspect we'll never know.

Of course, the answer to spoilers is simply to flood the internet with fake claims to make picking out the real ones impossible. I've heard that the game features segments where Master Chief battles aliens with the power of song.
Dang, I'd actually pay to see (just see, not play) the Chief Master fight the flood by blarring power ballades into space.

Can somebody please explain to me why M$ is panicking? This leak can stir up much more hype than CGI trailers. If they think they are going to lose sales, they should be smoking a bit more money to realize that people are going to buy it anyway,be it 16-year olds or grandmas.
Sure it's not a complete build that's not representative of the final product, but some people want to see GAMEPLAY,has anything changed and is it good?
ME3 leaked,sold through the roof.Deus Ex:HR leaked half a year before release,still sold over a million.Crysis 2 leaked,still sold well for a sequel.
This is just PR peeing in their pants and nothing more,do they have to make it into a drama?
Deus Ex is the only game that benefitted from the leak.

The ME3 leak basically encouraged Bioware to change the story, and we all know how well that went.

Crysis 2 was probably hurt by the leak, mainly because it confirmed peoples predictions and fears.

Deus Ex: HR didn't have much to lose. Most people were convinced it was going to be shit. If the leaked beta had been terrible, not much would have changed. But it turned out to be alright, and that got the game a lot of positive word of mouth.

Now, Halo 4? From what I've seen, it would not surprise me in the slightest if MS weren't confident enough in the product. And even if they were, 3 weeks is a long time.
So.. if the leak shows something shitty, it's bad. But if the leak show's something good, it's good?

Maybe the moral of the story is companies should stop pumping out garbage then blaming leaks for bad sales.

Some pirates (and even some publishers and developers, usually more associated with the indie crowd) tend to see pirated copies as "extended demos". Whether they are sincere or not, whether it's ridiculously idealistic or not, a lot of pirated games' readme.txts apparently feature statements along the lines of "here, play this game, but if you enjoyed it, please buy it to support the developers" or something like it. There's probably some truth to that at least. It's not like such a statement would help them legally I expect, nor do I think they care too much about the legality, so why put it in if it isn't at least somewhat genuine?

Well, if it's a halo game, I'm guessing either humans will lose a planet or two to evil, ugly aliens or they'll blow up several alien ships while spewing bravado. But then it'll turn out there was a conspiracy involving ancient technology in the mantle layers of a planet controlled by insane, parasitic lifeforms with no eyes, and we'll learn they have no eyes because they sold them in exchange for flashy elevators that look like they were made by space dwarves so that the two or three of them that can't climb on walls could get to high places. Then it turns out this was all a plot to get everyone interested in digging up stuff, organized by Herobrine. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WdcCR7-XP4]

EDIT: Wait a tic, don't most people not bother with the story campaigns to these anyway?

I heard that it turns out that Predators are actually an alien species that just straight up stole forerunner tech like the Covenant. Thus explaining why both elites and predators have the same cloaking tech. And plasma gun things.

And you fight xenomorphs in this game.

[sub]Actually Bungie just straight up copied Predators in the first place and no, none of those suggestions are true.[/sub]

I heard that the game is on rails as you take a casual Warthog ride through the world of Halo using the Kinect for driving. Occasionally the game makes you get out to shoot things on the screen by using your hands. Then at the end of the game, Master Chief reveals that he is actually a cyborg Peter Molyneux.

Oh, and Cortana has been implanted into a fembot that looks like its going for 1950's sex appeal.

The ending in the leak was almost the same as the release - it has you choose between Destroy, Control, or Join (after being mind-controlled into shooting Anderson) - so its epicfail status was not a result of the leak.

Seen the leaks, don't look real, we had a thread ages ago saying the Chief wouldn't reveal his face, it also been posted in magazines and stuff.

I'll believe it when i see it.

Oh yeah, it's real. The entire game has already been streamed multiple times. Hell, the Legendary epilogue was up on Youtube for a solid 12 hours before MS pulled it.

Like I said in another topic, your best bet is avoiding any gaming sites for the next three weeks. You're bound to be spoiled.

I always enjoy it when people are cynical about games being leaked.

I was the same a month before Gears of War 2 came out. Then some bastard posted major spoilers on the official forums without warning. I accidentally read them, laughed as they seemed so ridiculous.

Then they happened in-game, and I died a little inside.

I'll definately be avoiding all the spoilers I can. I haven't even watched any of the trailers yet save for the original E3 one. That's really a new thing for me, to. I've always wanted to do that with games and movies, but I've never been able to resist until now.

Halo 2 was leaked... as was Halo 3, ODST, and Reach. MS didn't see this coming? I remember when the store I was working for received our shipment of Halo 3 - a MS Rep was there to oversee the entire thing. It was pretty weird, but I guess I don't blame them.

It's always big news when Halo gets leaked. I guess more people play Halo for it's paper-thin story than you might think. I used to play Halo for it's story, but now I actually find the games to be the least interesting part of the Halo universe, story-wise.
