Halo 4 new soundtrack and screenshots....... thoughts?

While on youtube I came across new Halo 4 images as well as a soundtrack sample.Now I know the escapist isn't exactly the best place to ask anything halo related but I just wanted to know what halo fans think about the new music direction 343 industries is going with the franchise.

That sounds EPIC. There was always a risk of just recycling that one song everyone knows, but it sounds good and makes me want to save all of mankind. Again.

I know right ! It sort of reminds me of how Halo CE soundtrack was without the monks chanting . I was on the fence before but now Im definitely buying it.

Cortana looks amazing, the battle rifle looks amazing, the levels look awesome. This is welcome news after the recent release of information saying it'd be more like COD.

I like it. Though I hope we aren't going to see as much grey as we have in these few screen shots.
If there was one thing I would nitpick about its Cortanas' hair...
Shallow I know but she's only a AI's holographic projection, so why does she have individual strands of hair? I liked how she appeared before,just have the basic appearance of a woman without all the fine details.
But who really cares anyway. So far so good.

Yea so far it doesn't look like the COD clone everyone was saying it to be, although I have noticed some similarities which aren't all that big. In fact they are an improvement in my opinion.
Yea more colour would be nice but Im actually cool with how cortana looks (more human)

It sounded pretty average to me.

The actual screenshots were nothing special though I'd like to know how Master Chief's armour has suddenly changed shape and Cortana has had AI plastic surgery since Halo 3.

The soundtrack seems extremely cliche to me. Like its desperately trying to be epic but running out of steam before the half way mark, so it just stumbles along tripping over its own ankles.

Well, there aren't many composers out there who could replicate Marty's success, so something like this was to be expected. I was sort of hoping the soundtrack'd go in a different direction, maybe be mostly electronic or something, to distinguish the new trilogy from the old - but this just sounds like it would fit into a scene from anything.

Of course, listening to a soundtrack without the game is stupid, so I'll reserve proper judgement until Halo 4's release.

I sorta get what your saying. Its not as distinguishable as ODST's soundtrack or any of the other halo games but this is only a sample so they might have more interesting tracks when the game comes out. But it does have a certain uniqueness of its own.

Eh, it sounds like the same track could be applied to any other epic movie/game imho. What I really want is some kind of a sequel to ODST, if Microsoft weren't such greey tools I reckon that game would've been received better. You weren't, but hopefully as they've already announced there will be new species the Elites and Humans won't hog all the screentime.

Hope so, otherwise I feel like they were just crow barred into the game, and I hate it when that happens. Besides, I liked it when Humans and Elites made nice at the end of Halo 3.

Combined with the Forerunner powers people have been talking about it makes me wonder just how on earth the plot's going to pull all this together... Not like I'll get to play it anyway because these games haven't been ported to PC since Halo 2. GRRR!

It sounds awesome, but in retrospect you're right, it doesn't sound that "Halo-y" could have used more chanting or something. The baseline drums are there though, so there's that.

Nah, I don't think anything was crowbarred into the game, it has been in development for some time now.

And do you remember the end of the concept art trailer? That thing you see for about a second while it screams? I don't think that's Covenant.

And no doubt the Covenant are having some sort of rebellions, maybe some still believe in the Prophets.

reall excited for this, seems like the story mode isnt just gonna be a slap on for the game and they are really gonna take it seriously i just hope the multiplayer is like halo 3 and not reach

Meh...That track just sounds really generic, like it was cut n pasted from any other action movie/game. It would be tiring to hear that same old Halo track, or even just a remake of it, but this really doesn't stand out in any way.

As far as looks go: Yeah, it looks like Halo. Oh well, too bad I stopped caring about it sometime during the opening weeks of Reach.
