Well it's nice to know Halo still has awesome music without the guidence of the great O'Donnell!
And those images looked great, especially seeing how much I love forerunner stuff.

I saw some of the new screenshots in this months GI. I love the way the Shanghili look in this one. They finally look like aliens wearing armor instead of giant beetle-monster things. I also like the way the grunts look though I wonder what they're doing in this game...I thought we were getting new adversaries. Also, love Cortana's curvy new look. More ladies need curvature.

The soundtrack seems extremely cliche to me. Like its desperately trying to be epic but running out of steam before the half way mark, so it just stumbles along tripping over its own ankles.
Yeah, I didn't like the song either. I have a feeling I am not going to like this new composer much, especially when he's compared to good old Marty.

The ascetics look good. Its pretty obvious that they are trying to do their own thing in that department, and I've got to say I'm liking it so far

The only thing I'm worried about with Halo 4 right now is if 343 will use the Covenant again as the bad guys. I know they have said they won't be the main enemy, but I still would like to see very little of them.

It's halo, making it almost certainly awesome, the campaign will hopefully be better than reaches, but with the chief and lots of forerunner stuff back that'll be alright.
I'm definitely looking forward to buying this.

Soundtrack sounds great, just one problem...Elites again! COME ON!! Was I the only one hoping that they would introduce a new species into the franchise!
You weren't, but hopefully as they've already announced there will be new species the Elites and Humans won't hog all the screentime.
Hope so, otherwise I feel like they were just crow barred into the game, and I hate it when that happens. Besides, I liked it when Humans and Elites made nice at the end of Halo 3.
Nah, I don't think anything was crowbarred into the game, it has been in development for some time now.

And do you remember the end of the concept art trailer? That thing you see for about a second while it screams? I don't think that's Covenant.

And no doubt the Covenant are having some sort of rebellions, maybe some still believe in the Prophets.
I think the entire game is being crowbarred in. Halo 3 ended decently (barring 343) and then 343 came in at the behest of Microsoft to milk the fans. Yeah, Bungie probably left it open for a sequel, but I was hoping Microsoft would have another Too Human made just so Yahtzee could finally rip something awful apart with impunity.

I didn't hear that... it nearly knocked my socks off. Then again, I'm not really critical.

Am I the only one who finds it wierd that the fan reactions have been generally positive to another Halo game?
I mean, I looked at the first few pages of youtube comments and there wasnt any people screaming about how the game was going to be crap.
Strange, the internet usually hates change in all its forms, especially the fans of Halo, and the change is quite substansial, from my point of view, what with Bungie not being attached to the series anymore.

Looks pretty good so far, it may be a first day pre-order for me. The Collectors Edition..

..And yes, I enjoyed almost every Halo game made so far, with the exception of the godawful Halo Wars. But I also have every single Halo book made as well, so you get a shit-ton of backstory not adequately present in the games themselves that really opens the universe up.

Also.. Heeeeelllooo, Cortana. :D

music was good, but not by any means great
im happy they arnt just doing the halo trilogy music but c'mon, reach had a similar feel to the original and was still different
heck ODST had a completely different sound track (best in the series imo)
but while this sounds good as many people have said it sounds rather generic and has very little of a halo feel to it

Admittedly I've only played the first Halo game, but I don't remember Cortana being quite soo... ahem, detailed and well endowed. As far as computerized ladies go that is!

As for the soundtrack sounds initially at least like something James Horner might do although it never quite hits that dramatic tension Horner's best pieces tend to get.

Soundtrack obviously.

Well, my first thought was do Halo fans know any other adjectives to describe a game besides "Epic," and then my second one was, "Meh, another Halo, not like it hadn't been totally obvious from the get-go that Microsoft wouldn't let this cash-cow roll over and die when it should have."

So yeah, I'll probably look into it just to see if 343 has anything new to offer.

Combined with the Forerunner powers people have been talking about it makes me wonder just how on earth the plot's going to pull all this together... Not like I'll get to play it anyway because these games haven't been ported to PC since Halo 2. GRRR!

Eh, it sounds like the same track could be applied to any other epic movie/game imho. What I really want is some kind of a sequel to ODST, if Microsoft weren't such greey tools I reckon that game would've been received better. ODST soundtrack was my favourite out of the series: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kw2sz-tqegU&feature=relmfu
It sounds awesome, but in retrospect you're right, it doesn't sound that "Halo-y" could have used more chanting or something. The baseline drums are there though, so there's that.
My bet? by the end of the 1st act they'll send out a distress signal which gets picked up by both the UNSC and what's left of the Covenant, and they'll bring some of the classic vehicles back (hopefully with some new ones).

Ending wasn't excellent. The shots look good though. Concerned by the lack of jetpacks, as they are the only thing that keeps me playing Reach to be honest. I hope the multiplayer is reminiscent of Halo 3 and they get rid of the perks.

This is only kind of related but can we stop using the word "Epic" so much. It's losing its meaning. Try atmospheric or humbling or awe inspiring or something else epic so overused.

...you do know that Halo 3 ended with a blatantly obvious cliffhanger right?

My hype for this game has degraded from top to bottem in this order:

-HOLY RAPTOR JESUS TOSSING A GOLDEN FRISBY TO CHUCK NORRIS ON THE BACK OF A CYBORG T-REX

-YEAH! Wait? Wha- the Covenant? Alright.. cool? Yeah!...

-Pfff... Yeah... *sigh* I guess instant respawn/random weapon drops are okay?

-Customizable Loadout/Spartan Points...

-Purchasable weapons, perks, auto-sprint, abilities....

Well the music was nice and smooth. Not as awesome as the original soundtrack, but really great anyway. Actually reminded me of Deus Ex, Mass Effect and Transformers at the same time.
Come to think of it, those screenshots and concept art look very... Starcrafty. Doesn't really matter though, it looks really really great. So when will it come out?

*Checks release date*

F*ck, that soon?

You want them to get rid of the perks, and yet the only reason you're still playing Reach is because of one of the perks...

...Huh?
