The actual screenshots were nothing special though I'd like to know how Master Chief's armour has suddenly changed shape and Cortana has had AI plastic surgery since Halo 3.

...so, you think that Cortana changing her look his honestly a new occurrence to the series?

Ending wasn't excellent. The shots look good though. Concerned by the lack of jetpacks, as they are the only thing that keeps me playing Reach to be honest. I hope the multiplayer is reminiscent of Halo 3 and they get rid of the perks.
You want them to get rid of the perks, and yet the only reason you're still playing Reach is because of one of the perks...

...Huh?
Yes, yes, yes. I know it's a little hypocritical, but we all are sometimes. And I can't help loving the feeling of being like Boba Fett.

:/ That sounded...average. It was alright, but it just wasn't like the other songs from Halo. I mean, I can ignore Halo's repetition and subpar storyline (honestly, I enjoy more the books, and everything prior to the Covenant, then with the Halos), but if you take away the score and replace it with this...No. I'm not looking forward to this. The song was ok, and I'm sure it could be improved, but this was just subpar. It's just not comparable with the original Halo's soundtrack.

Not as riveting as the previous halo soundtrack, but it isn't composed by Marty due to him getting tired of the doing the Halo soundtracks because they were getting repetitive, however he was proud of his work in ODST because he was given the chance to do something different.

Reach's soundtrack....is just epic.

Ah well, wasnt that much of a fan of jetpacks anyway. Which is weird, since i thought they would be cool. Getting around the level is a little faster but they paint a big target on your head XD.

The other abilitys were useful though. The hologram is always good fun.

I'm hoping this is just a first draft, because it wouldn't take much to improve the calibre of this into something pretty good. As it stands, it's above average. The drums are a little overdone, but my biggest criticism is that the tone quality of the instruments in the forefront is pretty bland - it has no nuance, no vibrato, no complement. I don't know if it's an early draft, they just don't have enough instruments on hand, or someone, somewhere is screwing up, but it really lacks character - but throw that in, get creative in one or two places, ease back on the drums at times, and it's a much better piece.

That's all I have to say.

...

Just kidding. It was pretty cool. Honest. If it was really that bad, I'd already be in the mesosphere. My screams are pretty powerful.

I am looking forwards to this game. This reaffirms my hope a little.

I think Cortana can change her appearance at will, so whatevs there.

As for the Chief, I've got no idea, and it kind of irritates me, but I know I'll be over it long before the game comes out.

Rather disappointing. It reminds me of the Harry Potter scores getting progressively worse as the series went on. Once you have John Williams, you cannot go back or get a new composer who will match. The same applies to Marty.

Come to think of it, those screenshots and concept art look very... Starcrafty.
I've noticed that too. Some of them I'd swear are identical to the concept art for Starcraft's Space Platforms.

Halo 4

Starcraft

I love Starcraft so I probably wouldn't mind seeing halo influenced by it, but I do find it a little ...strange... all the same.

Eh it was average. It didn't give me chills, yes I see that as a legitimate negative, and it didn't feel like it was trying to do something new. I suppose it'll be just another game soundtrack. Having said that, I'll have to play the game before making a solid judgement.

They are very similar in style, showing off huge-scale complicated space tech structures that seem to consist of unbelievable technology, but I'd say the architecture in the Halo screens has that distinct Halo style, Note how the Starcraft picture looks like hundreds of shipping crates welded together, Halo 4's concept art is full of delicate immense floating pillars that almost grow out of the landscape, lots of circles and curves. I would say it's very... feminine architecture. Delicate and beautiful. They both seem to be trying to evoke the same feeling of huge scale, inconcievable isolated space structures though, and thats were the similarities could be appearing.

I shall coin a new term for that music. Genepic! (pronounced Gen Epic, not Gene Pic). Like others have said, its average, and is very cliché.

First off, that's some fantastic artwork in that video.
But the song has strayed off the path of the original tracks from Halo: CE and Halo 2 Which is a real shame because they had the two best soundtracks of any video game to date in my opinion. And the chanting is an integral part of the score, I really hope it's still there to some degree. As long as it has tracks of the typical unearthly quality, I'll be happy though.

Video related, I teared up the first time I heard it and it's just... *sighs happily*

Soundtrack sounds great, just one problem...Elites again! COME ON!! Was I the only one hoping that they would introduce a new species into the franchise!
You weren't, but hopefully as they've already announced there will be new species the Elites and Humans won't hog all the screentime.
Hope so, otherwise I feel like they were just crow barred into the game, and I hate it when that happens. Besides, I liked it when Humans and Elites made nice at the end of Halo 3.
Having the elites as an enemy in Halo 4 wouldn't feel crowbarred...well that is if you follow the novels. While the humans and elites did make nice in Halo 3 you have to admit that it was mostly an alliance of pure necessity (banning together to face a greater threat)and those elites were really just a small fraction of the Shangeili (elite's species name). In one of the newer Halo novels "The Glasslands" the peace between the humans and elites is fragile at best with many members on both sides still holding a great amount of distrust and animosity towards each other. And the upcoming sequel to "Glasslands" is supposedly going to be called "The Thursday War" hinting that some new conflict is going to break out."

Still I would like it if the elites in this game aren't going to be the enemy and that they are just part of some deep space exploration team that stumble upon the same construct/planet that the chief is on. I feel that in order for 343 to add something new to Halo it needs to put some distance between itself and the Human-Covenant plot of the previous games.

That's what you call (or at least what I call) an artistic retcon.

Ya I was really hoping that he came out of cryo like a thousand years in the future and we would get introduced to a whole new universe.

Well considering most of the images are definitely from the latest issue of gameinformer and the soundtrack sample was officially released on halo Waypoint I think its safe to assume that its legit :p

Well Halo has been influenced by Starcraft before in terms of storyline. Human colonies suddenly getting attacked by a super advanced race of religious nuts, after which a larger threat, a parasitic all consuming evil comes into play. It's only similar on the surface, but it still stands out.
