I thought, wow, more of the same crap MicroSoft has been repackaging for a decade now. Having played all of the prior HALO's, I'm definitely going to pass on this one. I've been increasingly disappointed with each entry in the series, the lack of innovation, each game is a copy and pasted game engine with nothing more than better textures pasted over different wireframe environments.

I'm a Halo nut. I've said it wherever there's a forum that asks about it. I gt so excited when I saw it. The Chief's back, and I am extremely excited.

And the Anniversary Halo coming out this year? Hell. Yeah.

No says Call of duty makers, war is too much fun,

No says the first person shooter genre, what's more fun than pointing and shooting?

Well I reject these realities and choose my own.

I choose the RPGs and RTSs.

I find it ironic how you quote bioshock a FPS game. the RPG and RTS gene is just as crowded. I for one am keeping an open mind, so far I have enjoyed all the halo games even ODST and Reach (waiting for wars to come to PC). with good imagination it could be great. based in another galaxy against a whole new enemy with perhaps forerunner weapons could be great. I agree Realistic modern shooters are overcrowded and feeling unoriginal however halo is an unrealistic sci-fi shooter and they're are not many games that go for fun over realism these days so I am looking forward to halo 4 but keeping an open mind it could be great or terrible.

Its going to be the same shit again, and again, and again, Microsoft will beat the shit out of the dead halo franchise until no remains are left, just imagine, after this will be a 9, 10, 11 or maybe even more because they will rake in millions or even BILLIONS after these games.
Again, don't care.... Don't you dare say I'm hating on it, its really quite tragic, this team will be forced to do these games by legal bind made by microsoft, and they will become the new activision or treyarch, its sad. Bungie, your new series, whatever it is, please make it fun.

I'm actually surprised at how "meh" the overall reaction has been. I'm long past my Halo fanboy days (CoD4 turned me away from Halo), but I'm definitely interested in Halo 4. I have little faith that it will be good, looking at Reach and ODST. Those 2 games were made by a GOOD developer and they still were fairly mediocre.

All I want for Christmas 2012 is the Halo 2 Battle Rifle in Halo 4 multiplayer. Please, 343? Make it happen.

even when cod came out I was still with halo. (I have played all the halo games and cod games) for me I am the exact opposite I thought halo reach and ODST (and halo 1) were the best as they showed a different perspective and proved that halo had pacing and is not just a shoot em up 24/7 game like Cod.

not sure to be excited or not, on one hand i do like the halo games, on the other im getting bored with them and i felt that the trilogy should have ended when they, you know, "Finished the fight"

although i am interested by what new enemies and settings there will be, and ofcourse the sound track

My reaction was one of meh.

And im also quite sure that LEGIONS of people will boo, hiss, trash, and burn everything that will be Halo 4, then boo, hiss, trash, burn, and ***** that it will never be as good as the previous games, and that it will fail miserably.

On another note, it will probably do quite well as the aforementioned legions will likely buy it regardless.

I am dissapointed. It just... looks wrong and Cortana calling him John all of a sudden? And the jetpack!? And the fact it looks like they're trying to turn it into a non-stop action movie?

1) john is his real name and the only people that really know him enough to know/use it are cortana and dr halsey

2) i don't know about the jetpack, maybe it was installed by cortana whilst he was sleeping or something. maybe he picked it up off screen. it's a really pointless continuity error to get worked up about

3) they're on half of a burning ship heading towards a mysterious structure as the ship is exploding. what did you expect him to do, calmly walk there?

overall it was just a CG Trailer and not an exciting one that that for me. So I was like meh.

A) For the 9 billionth time today, someone actually has to say that THEY NEVER SAID THE FRANCHISE ENDED AND THEY SAID THERE WOULD BE MORE GAMES FROM DAY ONE. 343i was ALWAYS going to make new Halo games. Reach was the last BUNGIE would make. And even then, they said "for at least quite some time", so they might even come back to it if their current project flops.

B) There is nothing wrong at all with continuing a franchise if it's done well. What is wrong with everyone thinking every damn game needs to be a new IP? Seriously! The Halo universe has such potential, and I look forward to it's future. If you don't, fine, but don't damn them for continuing it.

Halo CE Anniversary plays literally 100% like the original. It just looks newer. And, if you're pissy about that, you can switch to the old graphics with a simple button press even mid game.

And the Fight he Finished? That was the fight against the Covenant and the Flood. This is a new fight.

Do people seriously not understand that stories can go on past when their chapter ends? Other franchises across all entertainment media does it all the time. Why the fuck does Halo get so much needless and ignorant hate?

Have you read any of the books? The comics? Seen the animes? Heard the audio drama?

The Halo Universe has an immense amount of potential, gamewise and otherwise. Done right, you could make a Halo game in almost any genre, and tell almost any type of story.

And yes, it can be a really genuine way of bringing the Universe to the people. Bringing the favorite character to face a new foe? That's done all the time.

So yeah, you hit a nerve with me. And you hit another one with that "people like you" comment. You got a problem with Halo? You got a problem with the fact that they're continuing it for the fans that still enjoy it? Ask yourself this:

Why?

Does it effect you at all? Does it take away from other games you like? Does Microsoft making more money make your day worse?

This is what I don't get about people that needlessly bash things like Halo or Call of Duty or Mario or Zelda. Why the flying fuck do you care if they make a new game in a franchise? Why are you so against it if you have no investment into the franchise? Seriously... why?

And that comment isn't against just you. It's against every person out there complaining about Halo 4 or Modern Warfare 3 or the new Mario games or what have you.

I'm just sick of people criticizing games before anything is known about them.

Yeah, I'm excited about Halo 4... but to learn about it. Meanwhile, you and 70% of the people on this site are saying it IS shit, even though you know just as much about it as I do.

So take a step back, and seriously ask yourself why you care so much.

And before you ask why I care so much? Halo is my favorite franchise. Not my favorite games, oh no (that title belongs to Dragon Age: Origins). But the Halo Universe is vast, rich, with amazing characters, and it's ever growing. There are five books on the way. Five. All expanding the universe.

Neither story wise nor gamewise has Halo jumped the shark. So why stop?

EDIT: GOOD GOD did it feel good to finally get that out there. Don't take personal offense to this. I'm just sick of the amount of negativity on this site. I need a break from here.
