I agree 100% with the Forge section written up by the OP. If you're going to give us a digital toybox, why limit it? The only reason you would want to would be if the match was Red v Blue and each kill gained you a little bit more X, Y or, $.

---

As for Single-Player, I would love to see a new AI take over for Cortana. Nothing against Cortana but she's getting old for an AI. Besides, this is a new trilogy so lets see some new blood. Honestly, I'd love to see someone other than Master Chief as the main player character because I loved being able to customize my own Spartan in Reach. Halo, 2 and, 3 disappointed me because I would spent time and effort putting The Chief in spectacular pink armor only to realize, "oh, that's only for multiplayer..."

I would love to see Halo 4 have a laser-focused campaign mode; make 4 about as long as the original 3 then add in a final boss. Speaking of bosses, ADD FUCKING BOSS FIGHTS. Also, no Gravemind, you had your chance for that and fucked it up.

Im hoping the singleplayer won't suck like Reach did and that they will ignore most of their community when it comes to multiplayer like they didn't do in Reach.

What I really want of course, is a perfect, x-box live capable, remake of the halo 2 multiplayer though.
Until you realize Halo 2 was more broken than Reach and survives off nostalgia alone...

My wishlist is simple:

1. Remove all armor abilities, especially sprint.
2. Do bloom properly or do not do it at all.
3. 10 levels that are as epic as The Ark and The Covenant.

I just don't want it to suck, but at the rate things are going it doesn't look too promising. Absolutely no information has been released since the reveal trailer, not a single new video, and the 343 forums are dead. The mods don't seem to tolerate different opinions there, so there is absolutely no discussions and no community. I don't know what they are thinking right now, they might be able to get into the preteen demographic but they aren't going to get much support from old fans of the game and I doubt they will cater to them. 343 should focus on building a new fan base, because I have a feeling I'm not going to like this next game. If things don't shape up the sales aren't going to be as good as they would like.

They shouldn't do Reach or CoD style multiplayer, they suck. Bring back the Halo 3 formula and work from there to add their own unique take.

Nobody knows where the story could possibly go. It is over. 343 is basically creating a new story from scratch. If they drag out the flood again it is going to be a deal breaker for me. Who is going to be the enemy?

Story wise 343 has to focus on the relationship of Chief and Cortana. Chief is a man of action, a perfectionist and a team player. Its rather sad that I had to read a book to find that out. 343 has a chance to flesh Chief out a little, and they might have to because Cortana is probably going to die. The relationship between Chief and Cortana is essential because Cortana is Chief's last teammate and friend this is the most emotional thing the series has left to offer, unless they default on the end of the human race, the I will be disappointed. If they can pull off an emotional story. I will be impressed.

I'm hoping that I won't buy Halo 4, but if I do, I'd want this:

Longer campaign.
Bring back the Flood and The Arbiter.
Challenging levels.
No auto lock on targeting.
Four player split screen campaign.
Color wheel for customization.
Better armor variation + no need to have bought other games to get a certain armor.
24 (at least) player multiplayer matches.
Larger weapon variety.
I'd say not being banned for accidentally killing people, but how would the game know it was an accident?

Hmmmmm... Well, *Cracks knuckles* let's see what I've got.

[HEADING=1]Mulitplayer:[/HEADING]
1. What you've got is okay, but is sort of rough around the edges. Take my favorite weapons, plasma weapons. They're absolutely TERRIBLE in Reach. You have to lead your shots with the rifle, and a full force firing from the repeater isn't enough to kill an enemy most of the time, and pausing to cool it down will more often than not get you dead.

2. The core gamemodes are okay, but add in some sillier ones. Action Sack is a good start, but I was thinking matchmaking custom games. You open a lobby for Fat Kid, and then people start to join. Since getting Reach, I really haven't played a good custom game; it's just never come together.

3. From what the trailer showed me, it appeared that Master Chief placed something on his gun. Attachments would be fine and all, but how about making them along the lines of the armor abilities from Reach? Instead of armor lock, how about carying a scope for the BR that you can take on and off.

4. Give us the ability to play as the elites in every gamemode, or give us a separate playlist for purely elite game modes. Same thing could apply to brutes, or whatever other species they decide to put in.

5. Halo Wars was onto something with the sentinel factories in their multiplayer maps. Perhaps it would work better for an RTS, but maybe giving us Forerunner and Precursor units like the Engineers or Sentinels for use as automated turrets or support troops.

6. Open roam would be nice, and how about an entire world that could be roamed, along the lines of a first person MMO, where the battle lines reset either when a certain time passes, or the objective of wiping out all resistance is completed.

7. Make Spartans look more comfortable. In Reach, half of the guys looked like they were too weighed down to move, and it just ended up looking kinda stupid.

8. Give the last man standing on the team super powers. If everyone else on a team quits, give that guy three times over shields, and two times damage. Give him a shot at holding the line.

9. Make automatic weapons, especially plasma, a viable tactic. The DMR outclasses the AR in pretty much every way in Reach, and I kind of got peeved when it could take me out in close range when I had the weapon that was supposed to outclass it in close range. Maybe that's my skill, but in general automatic weapons need to be buffed quite a bit.

10. Bring back fire. This was a weird thing I noticed was missing from Reach, fire. What happened to it? I thought the flame thrower and the incarceration grenades in 3 were awesome.

[HEADING=1]Firefight:[/HEADING]

11. Give us the ability to play as Elites or Brutes against A.I. controlled marines and Spartans. This could be defending, or attacking.

12. Bigger parties, and bigger maps. All around, give us the option to call in more buddies to take on more baddies.

13. Make automatic weapons dangerous. I know this is kinda a repeat, but in Firefight, it's needed more than it is in multiplayer. Even low level Grunts take about half a clip to the chest to drop! That's just stupid. It's 32 armor piercing rounds fired one after another, it should be dropping the crowds. The only time the AR, Plasma Repeater or Plasma Rifle were worth anything in Firefight that I could see was on the mode where everything, including damage, was doubled.

14. Traps maybe? Environmental hazards we could turn on the enemy. Maybe something similar to the Engineers and Sentinel idea I drafted up for multiplayer.

15. Give us new enemies, like maybe the flood. Or how about we fight marines as part of war games. Rubber bullets mind, but still the same basic effect.

[HEADING=1]Campaign:[/HEADING]

16. Let us take down big things. Something I noticed from Reach was that you never took down a Scarab. This felt odd to me, and all in all, I felt that taking down a Scarab would've been a much better end boss than a turret section.

17. Make the enemies scary. This doesn't mean that you have to make them scary in an attempt to get our hearts going, but I was thinking more along the lines of making the idea of them, their strength, their tactics, their drive, and their scope, a scary thought to go against. Give us a really badass fighting force to go up against.

18. Maybe give us a clear end goal. Something we want to achieve from the start, like maybe getting to the things in that ship's home world and laying siege to it. I don't know, but a sense of purpose throughout the next trilogy would feel nice.

This.

I think the game is just like a cash in. I know 343 wants to do some stuff with the series in the future, but this isn't the way.

We've had a propper ending, so let's leave it this way. Master Chief died in Halo 3 for me... even though he's still alive.

So I want nothing from Halo 4, I don't want the game.

I liked alot of the Reach changes. Shield bleed through kinda sucks. The problem being is that I am not given much of a chance to get away from a fight if I know I will lose, or Melee is now really over powered.

Grenades in reach are fine dropping power I am okay with but the sheer number should remain the same.

Oh, and I liked the armor abilities, they gave a class structured gameplay.

No matter how many people say it. Halo 3 never had a proper ending. It ended with a cliff hanger and a very clear one at that.

OT: As a reader of the Expanded Universe, I am mainly wanting to see what the story is for the game/trilogy and all my real wishes are is that they start to interact with characters from the novels more like the Spartan II's, III's and the
[spoilers=Glasslands]Spartan IV's[/spoiler]

I'd rather people stop making the games and start something new and original. The first Halo, though not terribly original, was a refined and well nuanced experience that attracted a massive fan base for a reason--or several reasons, for that matter. But it's done. It's in the past. So much time and talent is spent and used recreating, rehashing, recycling and reimainging the same games all too often. Why not use those very gifted and dedicated game makers to create something new? A new "oh wow" moment? I know I'd much rather that than simply adequate expansions and addendum--just look at where the Assassin's Creed franchise went; tower defense? Really?

My number one wish for Halo 4: it's a bait and switch for something much bigger.
As it happens, the developers of the original 5 Halo games (Bungie) HAVE moved on. This is being handled by another developer.

No Battle Rifle, DMR, Cov.Carbine and take the scope back off the pistol. That'll be all, thanks.

Oh, and VIOLENTLY reject all MLG related content.

No Covenant, no Flood, no other humans, and a decent length.

For multiplayer, work off Reach's, but make that one mode more like UT04's Assault than "capture points three times in a row", and fix the quitting punishment.

My thought?

BUFF THE AUTOMATIC WEAPONS. I am tired of it taking so many shots to drop a spartan, I recall in halo: CE that it took literally 18 shots to kill a enemy, and the assault rifle should be that powerful. Maybe a smaller clip for balancing, but still something you would wanna use in close-mid range combat more. Same with the alien equivalents, plasma repeater was lame as it gets, as its DPS was so low there was no point in using it! I like innovation, but please make the next alien assault rifle-type weapon actually kill things!

I hope they keep the Reach changes.

- Whackier Guns, by halo 3 a lot of the halo weapons started to fall into the "samey" trap.
- Master Chief actually spends time talking, and we get to know his character
- A completely new enemy. As much as the covenant were cool, I think it's time they stopped fighting humanity. Absolutely NO Flood please please please. (and make forerunner interesting)

Erm...slightly confused, actually. Not a halo player, so not entirely sure... Wasn't Halo 3 the big wrap-up-of-the-plot game in the series? Hence why they went ODST and Reach?
Yes... Yes it was.
But now since the company who made the last many Halo's have left Microsoft.. No one is there to stop MS's plan to make it into the "next COD".

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I would rather not see master chief again, I would rather it be about the arbiter putting down the last of the covenant and then maybe looking for the master chief.

As a hardcore fan to the third game, I applaud your decision, my good ser, for voting with your wallet with artificially lengthening a series just to milk more money.

In my humble opinion, Halo should have been done for for 5 years now.

Mhm. That is why I didn't mention Bunjie. They flogged the dead horse, yes, but they moved on eventually.

I was referring to the new developers.

I'm not too confident in 343 industries at the moment. It seems that with Halo: CE Anniversary, they upgraded the graphics, added some skulls and data logs, and called it a day. It would have been nice if they could have fixed some things that didn't work so well, like the pathetic AI.
it was a remake, and the AI was alright tbh

and just so people know while 343 is not part of bungies, most of the people in it were from the halo team
