I never played Halo, but I'd like to see it bring back the run n' gun/corridor style of FPS gaming that used to almost make the genre a sport. I don't hear too much these days about the "competitive circuit" for games like MW3/BF3...
Cause nobody wants to watch some tool box lie prone in some bushes.
Nobody wants to watch someone press X and click on a map to get kills with killstreak rewards.
The FPS game that kills for you, that's about what it's come down today with the current generation. It's all designed so someone on a couch can have busy hands, stuffing their face with doritos and mountain dew and still be "playing." That's how FPS games went mainstream, they sold out the challenge in them to make them more user friendly.
Agreed. Don't make it like
Call of Duty, please. No classes, no armour abilities (unless in certain game-types where everyone has the same ability ie. Jetpack Deathmatch) , and no stupid kill-streak awards. Keep team-killing in, because it just makes sense. Keep making well-designed maps, and keep it balanced. Make everyone start on an even footing. Unlike
Call of Duty.
As for the singleplayer, make it a more lonely experience, like the original
Halo was. Give us the sense of awe and wonder in exploring alien worlds and the secrets they hold. Also, don't be afraid to kill off Master Chief and/or Cortana. Let's get some real drama into the mix.
