Best atmosphere in a Halo game, and one of the best soundtracks in a videogame.

Gameplay-wise, was ok. Not as good as the previous Halo titles, but still decent.

The only problem it had in my eyes was how Microsoft manipulated it from going from an expansion like intended into a full fledged game. So for a full 60$ it ended up being on the short side. I can't know but I think that the amount of meddling Microsoft did during it was likely one of the deciding factors for Bungie to want to completely go independent, and were willing to give up everything they ever did with Halo to do it.

But the stuff that was there was great. Marty went full deity-mode for the soundtrack too so we'll always have that to listen to.

I thought the campaign was awesome and it's one of my favorite Halo Games. The atmosphere, characters(Nathan Fillion ftw) and music were really good. The firefight mode was a nice addon to it. The game wasn't worth the full price though. Still a really memorable game and I give it my recommendation. Gotta play it again some time.....

I'm one of those oddities that actually likes the Halo series, but tends to like the games other "fans" hate.

I absolutely love Halo:CE
The majority of the halo fanbase hate CE (arguably the best of the series) and love its awful sequels? What the hell?
I should follow your lead and try out ODST then.

I thought it was good. Me and my friend had a lot of fun and a great laugh playing it co-op.

Certainly not the best Halo but it's not as bad as a lot of people make it out to be.

I really liked it, it's storytelling and ambience was really good, despite not being a full new Halo game.

By the way, if you want to play some co-op be sure to add me, my GT is Kevinzz.

Fellow Escapists. I've been playing ODST recently, and just wanted to know your opinions on whether ODST should be classed as a good game.
Actually, ODST is the one Halo game I've never played, although that's probably because I just got a 360 this week.

Have you lost your mind? ODST can't be called a GOOD game.

It's a bloody fantastic game! Especially after a few playthroughs when you have spent time exploring and collecting audio logs. There's a lot of symbolism going on that can easily be missed the first couple of times.

Maybe not "hate", but you'd be amazed how many die-hard Halo fans consider CE to be the weakest of the "good" Halo games. (most arguing whether 2, 3, or Reach are the best)

It's kind of like the Call of Duty situation. Arguably, 4 had the best campaign and one of the better balanced multiplayer experiences. Yet, because more people came into the series afterward; and mostly just for the multiplayer; most die-hard fans of Call of Duty consider anything after 4 to be the "best" the series has to offer.

i played it.
I liked it a little.
It bored me a lot.
It ended just as the characters started becoming interesting.
Cliffhanger-kinda ending didnt help.
It wasn't a bad game though. It didnt give me a bad after taste.
But now that i think about it, it didnt leave anything.
Oh i remember a smooth soundtrack.

I thought it was very good. The story was barely there, but I wasn't expecting much by that time anyway. The atmosphere was great, the levels were great. The music warmed my cold heart with a cool island song. It was neat to see Halo from a different, more 'down to earth' and human perspective. Collecting the audio files was a fun distraction and added a lot of character. Firefight seemed very well put together and thought out. It did not feel tacked on.

Now for my complaints: the price was steep. And as great as Firefight was, this was offset by the absolutely grueling pace. It took way too long to accomplish your goals. You could play for hours with no end in sight.
