OK, seriously, I'm sick and fucking tired of people saying there are too many Halo games. There are four, five if you count ODST, and six if you count the yet-to-be-released Reach.
So let's just go with that. Six. How many Call of Duty games are there? How many Mario games are there? How many Pokemon? Grand Theft Auto? Final Fantasy?
The problem is that Halo has a story it wants to tell and is set in the same consecutive universe.
Final Fantasy on the other hand is a new universe, a new story, new setting, new battle system with just about every game. GTA: New world, new story, new stuff. Pokemon just sells and again sells due to the new Pokemons, not the story. CoD: They only have WW2 to work with, and they tell the same story again and again only with a few twists, the only thing they're really building on is the multiplayer (until MW came along which had it all) but they told the same story, not a consecutive story. And Mario, well.. The princess is in another castle so we know what to expect of a 'story' in those.
Halo wants to be a FPS WITH a story, and there comes a time where you push a story too far.
In the end I'm not really interested in Halo. As long as they satisfy their fans without destroying the story by not knowing when to stop, I have no problem with them making new games and can't see why anyone should.
