That's actually a good point. I hadn't considered that before. I was with him at the time and I was so confused. It was actually a pant pocket though.DuelLadyS said:I'd say the big pocket hurt your friend more than anything else, becuase it gave the system room to build momentum. (I'm guessing coat pocket, right? )
How about you learn the slightest bit about evolution before making comments like that.fundayz said:I can't tell whether I'm happy or dismayed that the kid was rescued...
Sometimes we should let natural selection run it's course.
No, he wouldn't. See above.RamirezDoEverything said:Darwinism ladies and gentlemen.

First of all, you clearly know nothing about human evolution. Sorry to burst your bubble, but we did not "beat" other monkeys by becoming protective of each other.Maze1125 said:How about you learn the slightest bit about evolution before making comments like that.fundayz said:I can't tell whether I'm happy or dismayed that the kid was rescued...

Dude, the kid is 10. One-Zero. Darwin Award is when the person should know better. This is 100% the parents' fault. I mean, seriously, where were mom and dad during all of this, and why weren't they yelling at him to watch where he's going while walking?this isnt my name said:Almost won a darwin award. Seriosuly that is stupid, I never walked anywhere looking at a screen, you need to be aware of your environment. And a train sation that would be even dumber.
Lucky he is ok though.
Yeah... No... Y'see natural selection does not work that way. What you are describing is more akin to Eugenics... And that is not something you want to practice.henritje said:atleast we wouldnt have to worry about his bad genes reamining in the gene pool!
Yes we did... We protected our women and children in order to create larger and stronger tribes that would out man the other smaller monkey tribes that didn't protect their young.fundayz said:First of all, you clearly know nothing about human evolution. Because your suggesting that the kid should have been left died because of his own stupidity... Which is wrong on pretty much every level.fundayz said:And secondly, even if you did know about evolution, why are you making such big deal?

That boy is alive because of natural selection.
Millions of years ago, it turned out that apes that were part of groups that helped each other out survived much better than apes who were part of groups who just let each other die.
As such, natural selection killed of all the apes who just let each other die and kept the ones who helped each other.
Millions of years of evolution later and we have a group of apes who are willing to risk their own lives for the sake of others in their group, even if they don't personally know them. Why? Because actions like that keep everyone much more alive than otherwise.
Evolution saved that boys life. This is a perfect example of natural selection at work.
Oh, and another thing that natural selection has achieved is the general shunning of those who suggest children should be left to die, because such people tend to be nothing but a drain of resources within a tribal society.

tl;dr: Tribe protect children = tribe live long.
Go read a book. Protecting each other is not exclusive to humans, as it is beneficial to many species. We didn't occupy the same niche as other apes, we didn't have to out compete them.Sovvolf said:Yes we did... Obviously, it's a freaking joke/exaggeration. In the situation I wouldn't stand and clap while the kid got splattered; i'm not a freakin psycopath and people like you gotta lighten up when reading comments of anonymous posters on some random website.Sovvolf said:And secondly, even if you did know about evolution, why are you making such big deal?
