Video games: Still blamed for people's inherit idiocy.
I particularly like how the headline would have you believe that the game "propelled" the kid onto the tracks. Did it physically push him? Mind-control him into stepping out? That's

And then parent of the year... let her 10 year old kid walk too close to the train tracks whilst preoccupied. Fuck.

You know how close I was allowed to get to the tracks until I was about 13? "Sit the fuck down on these benches and wait until the train gets here."

Why aren't high velocity metal constructs treated with the correct quantities of fear, respect and humility?

Is this a true story that came out of the Mail? Surely not...
It's a paper called the Daily Mail, or if you frequent Fark, the Daily Fail.
i'm pretty sure that's what he meant by that comment. i hear people abbreviate the name of the Daily Mail as just "the Mail" quite often, and it's commonly derided as a news source. basically, the UK's equivalent of Weekly World News or some such drivel. hence his comment.

Why you would play a handheld while walking down the street or a place like this? I do not know. At least he's okay, though. PSP likely not to be. At least i have my good, strong DS....

They are not!! My PSP-1003 is like a brick. I've dropped that thing a ridiculous amount of times, and the only reason its out of action right now is because a button broke, which can be easily replaced. A button!
There's no A button on a PSP. You sir are a dirty xbox liar!

Bet it was pokemon.

Wow I feel like a terrible person.
And so you should!
I mean really?
A Pokemon title on the PSP?
Hand in your badge, you clearly don't deserve it.
But I didn't see the video!

I can't tell whether I'm happy or dismayed that the kid was rescued...

Sometimes we should let natural selection run it's course.
I seriously hope you're joking, he's 10! Don't tell me you never did anything stupid at that age.

OT: Glad that the kid's safe, bet his parents are relieved.

What's the big deal? This could've happened with a book, graphic novel or magazine.

It's the kids fault for walking without paying attention to where he's going.

When I clicked this I was expecting to see a child's PSP or DS send him flying into the air.

IS THE PSP SAFE?

I can see this newsroom meeting right now.
-----------------------------

Reporter: "Say boss, I got this story about a Harvard graduate who was so engrossed in Charles Dickens' "A Tale of Two Cities" that he lost track of where he was going, wandered into traffic, was killed instantly and caused a massive, 15 car pile up!!"

Editor: "Nah, that's garbage. Nobody'll care about a story like that."

Reporter: "Oh, ok. Well, some little kid fell into a subway track while playing a video game. He's totally okay though. Didn't even scrape his knees."

Editor: "HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!! THE VIDEO GAME TRIED TO KILL HIM!! THIS IS GOING ON PAGE ONE!!"
