Rest in Piece Dom...
The only thing I've ever really cried at. And god dammit did I cry like a *****.
Ninja'd. Well, almost. I didn't actually tear up, but during that scene in Metal Gear Solid 2 with Otacon and his sister, and Raiden and Snake just standing there, it was very poignant.Zebidizy said:nearly all of the metal gear solids have brought me to tears each one has one part in it that are truly deep and sad (death of sniper wolf, death of otacons sister, death of the boss and ending of MGS4). they are the only games that have managed to do it.
No different than crying at a movie.Zhukov said:These threads always give me pause for thought.
Are there really so many people out there crying as they play video games? Like, with actual wet salty tears running down their faces? Because I find it a little hard to believe.
OT: No. A few have made me feel sad, but tears are yet to emerge.
On the subject of E.E's death, I cursed Hideo Kojima that day. And I still do now...shrekfan246 said:Ninja'd. Well, almost. "Hal . . . call me . . . call me Emma." "What's wrong with E.E.? . . . Emma? Emma!" Why does it always happen to you, Otacon? Why, indeed.
The ending of Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep is pretty moving as well, provided you're a fan of the series.
Well, I think that's the sign that it was very well executed. Honestly, say what you want about how convoluted everything Hideo Kojima touches is (justified because, frankly, he could use an editor), but I think it's awesome that I actually feel sorry for the Beauties in Metal Gear Solid 4 after I defeat them because of their backstory, or that Emma's death after only being introduce shortly before could be so poignant, or that Ocelot is such an interesting and complicated character in his appearances related to the "Les Enfantes Terribles" and Big Boss, and The Boss in Metal Gear Solid 3. . . I'd better stop gushing now. And not only because that has become an indecipherable run-on sentence.otakon17 said:On the subject of E.E's death, I cursed Hideo Kojima that day. And I still do now...
CURSE YOU HIDEO KOJIMA, CURSE YOU!!!!
I second this. I second the hell out of it. The MGS series gets a lot of flak, and it deserves quite a bit of it, but it's still one of the best game series I've had the pleasure of experiencing.shrekfan246 said:Well, I think that's the sign that it was very well executed. Suffice to say, as cut-scene heavy as the Metal Gear Solid series is, I absolutely love the amount of characterization most of the NPC's get.
