I've seen what they can do, and it doesn't appeal to me. I'm not trying to take the moral high-ground or anything - if you enjoy that type of thing, then you go crazy, but I'll get my highs off other stuff instead. I like being able to think straight and be 100% aware of what is going on around me. Sure, you may be absolutely pissed or high and having the best time of your life, but when you wake up in A&E after having overdosed, or broken your back by doing something fucking stupid, then you'll most likely be having the worst time of your life.
But yeah, if you want to take that risk then be my guest, I'm not going to judge you, but I don't think, and never have thought, that it is worth it.
Funnily enough, I'm in the same position as you are; a lot of people in my school actively drink, smoke and some even smoke cannabis on a regular basis(none of my close friends, as they have fairly similar points of view to my own). The way I see it; you do what you want to do, and I'll do whatever I want to do, I will never allow another person to force one of their "habits" on me, as I don't require alcohol or drugs to have a good time.
Also, I have seen drug abuse in action and the consequences it brings, as a result, if hard drugs like cocaine would become legalised, then the drug cartels will become either companies supplying the products or rooted into the governments/whoever deals with supplying and distribution of said durgs, as they would be unlikely to give up the monopoly they've established worldwide so easily.
