I'm split on this.
90% of me just does not give one solitary fuck. I had a close personal friend out themselves as trans a few months ago, and instead of make a giant deal out of it I just said, "okay, cool, let's game" and went on with my fucking evening. Had a private conversation with them later to make sure they were seeing a therapist and good endocrinologist because I understand the risks and hazards of transition, and they are, but other than a name as far as I'm concerned, not one goddamn thing was really different.
I despise performative bullshit, and if I just don't care about gender enough to put on a broadway show for one of my real life best friends, I sure as shit aren't doing it for some Hollywood person I've never met and never will meet.
I'm about 5% watching trans rights "activists" ree and squee, and try to pretend years' worth of endemic erasure of the existence of trans men didn't actually happen and rights issues unique to trans men still don't exist. Which is a huge chunk of why I'm not fond of trans rights "activists".
I figure another 4% is laughing my ass off watching third-wave radfems once again prove they're unequivocal trash, dropping dumbass takes about it and/or spewing more TERF garbage.
1% of me is clicking on Page's IMDb profile, because these Hollywood types practically never just say this stuff regardless of actual identity status or the general state of LGBTQ rights at any given time, and rather wait until PR-appropriate times to strategically deploy public outings. And Page in particular has proven noteworthy for it, having come out as (then?) lesbian right at the height of Days of Future Past's pre-premiere PR blitz.
