Huh. The writer of longwinded pieces of quasi-literature with a big stiffy for itself is a fan of longwinded pieces of...you know where I'm going with this.

You can't honestly think that Twilight, a poorly written trend among teenage girls who only like it because the main character is somewhat relatable is on par with one of the most critically aclaimed video games of all time?

Obviously you have either never read Twilight or only played a bit of MGS.
Of course, even a lot of the positive reviews for MGS4 panned the plot, the dialogue, or the storytelling. Besides, if you want to go with accolades, Twilight isn't exactly without them, either. That doesn't make it any less poorly written. Maybe Twilight isn't one of the most critically acclaimed books of all time, but the goalposts are rather different for literature and games.

holy hell, please don't get any ideas for the next MGS game involving twilight ><
Well he already included a vampire in the series. Wouldn't surprise me if he made a game that elaborated on Vamp's story/ character.
How do you elaborate on "oh crap I can't logically explain him time to claim that Nanomachines save you from having your brain perforated by a bullet. Also drowning. And being shot in the head again."
What's REALLY hillarious is that after that, he then went back and said that Vamp naturally had super fast healing and so on, and the nanomachines just made it much better. So he apparently WAS a vampire, or something like it (strigoi vii, perhaps?). Which I suppose makes some sense; if there weren't some prerequisites for nanomachine-based superpowers then there'd be no reason not to make an army of Vamps, but it honestly felt like he was desperately trying to please both the people who liked MGS2 and the people who hated it at the same time, and just succeeded at annoying everyone. He did the same thing with Liquid Ocelot.

I enjoyed the Metal Gear series despite its flaws until MGS4, when the bad writing style overtook the cool premises and interesting characters that had made the games up to that point fun. If he were to go with the existence of nanomachine augumented but otherwise low-powered vampires, and make another game about them, I'd totally play it, provided he got himself an editor.

...As for Twilight, yeah, sparkling romantic vampires are a travesty. Any vampire/human romance that doesn't involve the vampire gradually killing the human over the course of the relationship (e.g. Carmilla) is a travesty. But we all have our guilty pleasures. Let the man indulge in his American vampire shoujo if he feels like it; most of the people bashing him probably have something they're similarly fond of for no good reason.

Holy Fuck, the creator of Evangelion and Metal gear are Twilight fans? Those books must have one damn great Japanese translator.

(Vamp could kick Ed Cullen's ass, though)
Not Eva's creator, its main artist, who is in charge of the still ongoing manga adaption.

(And, yes, yes he could.)

And that makes it all the more fun for people like Cleolinda Jones to rip it apart. The first time I began reading her recaps of Twilight I was laughing so hard I cried.
Do you have a link to those recaps?

For all those who are comparing Kojima's stories to Twilight keep this in mind:

In Kojima's stories, after miles and miles of dialog, something usually HAPPENS! A fight breaks out, people die, SOMETHING!

In Twilight though, nothing happens. No fights break out, no one important to the plot dies, and everything the female lead wants is eventually handed to her.

As bad as Kojima gets, at least something happens after a point. And no one sparkles while doing it.

All truth be told though, I honestly think that the translators for Twilight might be adding a few things during the process. Or Hot Gimmick's magna version was more popular in Japan than I thought it was.

As someone pointed out, Twilight may actually be listed under COMEDY over there since the title is 'My Boyfriend is a Vampire' Which wouldn't be hard to understand, maybe there was a lot of adaption like what we used to do to Anime?
That would actually make a good bit of sense.

Well, to be fair, I've never read any of those books or, to my knowledge, played any of those games.

Maybe it's because the style of the books, from what people have told me, is rather like manga aimed for little girls.

Sort of, but it's more about how wet the author gets for Joseph Smith and Injuns. And money

Anyway, Maybe this explains why Vamp wasn't REALLY a vampire.
Because he didn't sparkle.

Damn, I need Shin-Goji back on my team

Take off the fan goggles and you'll see that the MGS' story isn't that much better than Twilight's. The "deep" parts you are referring to are handled just as tactlessly as any of the "thought-provoking" relationship elements in Twilight.

I suggest you read this:

Played every MGS game except for Snake Eater, and I read enough of Twilight to know it's crap. Now don't get me wrong, I like the MGS series. The gameplay rocks, and the earlier games are some of the most influential games of all time. The story, however, is really poorly told, and it never ceases to amaze me how many people try to defend it. True, it deals with some pretty heady issues at times, but all of that supposed sophistication is ruined by Kojima's ham-fisted thematic delivery and his over-reliance on dialogue for exposition.

All in all, I find it funny how many people here are complaining that the only reason Twilight is popular is because it was written to appeal to teenage girls. Substitute "gaming dork" for "teenage girl" and the same is true for the story of MGS. Think of how many tired sci-fi/anime tropes are used in MGS and the comparison between it and Twilight should be pretty clear.

I'm actually not really that surprised, I mean the popular stance that the twilight saga is bad seems to be reaction to the popularity rather then an actual estimation of the series quality, and so it's not really surprising that a respected artist can like it. So the twilight hate is an opinion rather then objective truth, who would have known.

You know I would rail anyone else for liking this garbage, but I almost expect out of Kojima now. He's a very hard man to predict, as per my shock to his MGS4 storyline and ending, and even then the announcement of yet another metal gear game. Don't get me wrong, I hate this social monstrosity, but I, for the life of me, cannot hate Kojima.

Diggin up some graves there, are we?

Well I didn't see this before, but I am quite shocked. I'd have thought he'd be into the most complex anime on the planet, which is probably all of them, but this is just... gah?

How any any respected author, designer, or developer like that crap? It's misogynistic trash, bordering on exploitative filth.

First of all, Twilight is disgusting and terribly written.
Second of all, the author's name is Stephenie Meyer. With an E.
