Not all high school relationships are a joke. Most are. Not all. My parents have been together since their senior year in high school (1979-until now). It'll be 24 years since they've been married and they still love each other. It's a matter of how serious the relationships are.
Now, as for me. I had a few "serious" relationships that lasted over a year. The first one ended cause I found out the guy was cheating on me with about 13 other girls (one being my cousin) and the 2nd one realized he wasn't ready for a "serious" commitment after a year. For the lulz.
For my current relationship? I'm been dating my best friend from high school. Mmm, 7 years of friendship is a pretttttttty good foundation to build our relationship off of. We tried to date a few times in high school, but the relationship was too brother/sister like. After we cut off ties in college (due to his psycho ex for hating me with a passion), we started talking again. Started out as friends again and rekindled old feelings and bam. Wonderful relationship, ahoy. I'm in one of the best relationships ever and neither of us plan on ending it.
As for the whole "Jane" thing. If you're not interested, let her know now. No sense leading her on. Let her know that she has "a snowball's chance in Hell" with you. Cut that shit to the core. Now.

Yeah, I broke up with an ex in high school cause made me a "gift wrapped box of love" after 2 weeks. Yeah, nothing was in it, but it was attached with a sappy poem. At the age of 16, doing anything remotely sappy like that to me was laughable. I gladly showed it to my boyfriend (who was my best friend at the time) and we laughed about it the whole afternoon. I either gave it back to him or threw that shit out. Then again, he also had me as "The ****" in his cell due to how much of a "cold-hearted *****" I was. Eh, comes with the territory.RH3INLAND. said:High School Relationships, what a joke.
So many people I've seen have said "Oh, I love you forever and ever" and break up two weeks later.
