I can't believe I'm saying this, but thank you EA

Because we're too proud of the pound. It has the Queen, Charles Darwin, and some other people I don't know of. The Euro is for countries who don't have any famous people to put on their money.

Wow. Activision truly have taken EA's place, huh?
That's what I thought too.

WAIT, so Activision told Sony to lower it's prices... yet they raise theirs? Hypocrites.
Very good point, now I hate them even more.

Mental note: Never buy from Activision ever again. Okay...maybe Diablo 3 but that's about it.

It's not as if games are expensive enough already........
Games were $50 each in 1985, and until this generation they were STILL $50. They completely ignore inflation for 20 years, and when they move prices everyone freaks out. I don't understand jacking them up to $90, but the hike to $60 was well within reason all things considered. The development costs might have gone up, but the cost of a disc is so low that they can't really claim distribution as a reason.

Activision =/= Activision-Blizzard. How do I know? Prototype.

Blizzard always supports their games, even... 8 years after release.

Activision doesn't support single-player games at all.

Yes, but in 1985 only a very few select people bought videogames. Today videogames are mainstream so there is a much larger market = more revenue.

I don't get it how "the weak pound" justifies higher prices. Last time I checked, Activision Blizzard was an american company, and the dollar is just as weak at the moment. So how does the Euro factor in this calculation anyway?

Doesn't matter. I just don't want to support them after all. If you buy a Blizzard game they get money, so in the end it doesn't matter if the game is good or not. I just can't resist to buy D3...been waiting for ages.

Not to be picky, but it's the UK as a while you mean rather than England

It makes me wonder how far it will go. Will we see a $100 game in the future? I certainly hope not. With the rise in popularity of video games there is to be an expected mark up but there is a point where a line is crossed and it back fires.
Well, didn't Yahtzee buy Mirrors Edge for 100 Australian dollars? I mean that's like 86 US dollars, not far from 100.

I'm just glad i've got patience, i very very very rarely ever buy games new and usually wait at very least afew months before buying them, and usually up to a year so most games have gone down considerably in price by then.

That said though there have been afew games that i've had to buy on release date.

Oh how the tables have-a turned. EA is not the price raising bastard now, they will soon be one of the few consumer price friendly publishers in the U.K.

sorry but maybe my idea on currency is totally wrong but isnt the pound still one of the strongest currencies on the planet? okay i agree we have fell alot during the the last couple of years as at the moment we are £1.15 to 1 euro so i would understand the price hike but if companies are thinking that way shouldnt we have been having cheaper games for the 5 years before that when the pound was alot stronger than the euro.I feel its another bullshit excuse to make us pay more for games that they know people will buy especialy in a recession when people are going to have less money to buy games anyway. As it seems that they know that if we spend more money on there games then we will have less to spend on there rivals its a traditional marketing move when there is less money going into the market and you know you have a product that people will spend the money for.Its a joke really as they think they have the power to make the prices but we should be the ones that are telling them how much we will pay for a product but unless nobody buys modern warfare 2 (that is really unlikely) then there going to be able to get away with and other companies will follow suit.

Okay, that's no problem, it just means I buy less of their games and I'm sure I won't be the only one. Parents will be buying less games for kids for Christmas, the people who are struggling as it is to get buy will simply refuse to fork out extra money for what is essentially a hobby. Food will come first, families will come first.

The amount of people refusing to buy their products will be more of a deficit to their budget, than any marginal difference to what would have otherwise been a possible record year in sales with such a good line up of games.
