You know, i would actually respect the group Anonymous if they werent Anonymous.

I'm not defending anonymous' actions, but I'm pretty sure many a revolutionary has hidden in a basement (if not their mothers). Likewise I might just be cynical but the only difference between a revolutionary and a terrorist often seems to be success.Bluntman1138 said:

As for this business with Anonymous outside the bunker, while I'm not surprised by Anonymous doing it I must say I'm surprised by the sheer scope of this attack. And this was hastily slapped together in a day. If SOPA should pass, be very afraid. Can't go on the internet, Anonymous will have taken most of it down (the censored, bloated corpse of it post-SOPA). On that note you can't frolic in the sunshine like you once did, too many rallies for freedom and shit (if the internet can organise for grown men to sit around and read My Little Pony to each other then what would stop them from uniting for...the entire internet...and freedom from censorship).
I doubt it'll pass anyway, and even if it did I'm sure it wouldn't be as bad as everyone makes it out to be (and probably wouldn't even last very long) but this just shows that you don't poke the enormous, porn-riddled hornet's nest that is the internet.

Well, I DID say that causing an upset at this point was the dumbest thing in the world to do. You see, while none of this is really a good thing, it still pays to know the value of consequence. And that is that screwing around with stuff like this sends up a big red flag for the truly malicious to shoot you, so to speak.
But in all seriousness, this action should be supported. Megaupload provides a legitimate service to users uploading their own files, and regardless of the piracy there, their freedom of speech has been infringed upon. I'm of the opinion that this UMG will turn out to be behind this, which stinks of anti-competitiveness.
DDos can be considered a form of organised online protest, especially in cases like this.
