So they trust them with their mail normally - certainly enough for their hotmail account to be their regular email, which they used to register for the PSN - and yet the moment hotmail gets a HUGE number of similar emails from the one company's mail servers and the spam filter responds the way its meant to its suddenly a carefully orcestrated inter departmental Microsoft conspiracy?

If they've auto-blocked Sony because of the PSN breach it's still basically evil, because its not like MS doesn't know exactly what's happened.

Thanks to the escapist and John for posting this, I was one of the people who sent you an e-mail to cover this story and was in thread in the hotmail thread you posted and quoted from. We have had over 135 replies in the thread but NONE from the admins there who continue to ignore us while posting in other threads arounds us.
All we want is hotmail to give us a basic answer they are working on what ever issue is causing the delay, we want our e-mails nothing more.

Seems pretty unlikely. Although, I wouldn't put it past Microsoft to do that. Or Sony, if the tables were turned.

Have you actually seen that company's corporate history? It's positively full of underhanded, manipulative ways to destroy it's rivals.
That being said, I actually doubt this is one of those cases. Microsoft isn't as bad as it used to be, and if nothing else, this just seems a little petty and counterproductive, as a story like this amply demonstrates.

Being one from the hotmail thread, I expect M/S probably didn't do it on purpose but they aren't fixing it either nor did they look like they were trying. Not a single reply from an admin after hours and hours + over 140 posts makes it look dodgy.
All we want is them to work on the problem and acknowledge the problem, getting sites like this to run the story was one way to help us.

I wasn't too bothered during the outage but PSN is now back and I still can't get on, I brought my PS3 in April to get away from Microsoft after my 2nd 360 suffered a fault but Microsoft still get in my way with hotmail lol.rollerfox88 said:

Every search you make on Google while logged into GMail is stored on Google servers under your name. That means every time you quickly check your email and then head back to Google without logging out to have a quick rub they know which porn sites you search for.
