Try a workout of some kind. Physical exercise and exhaustion automatically puts the body to 'recharge' mode even if you have never heard of the concept called sleep.

Do something during the day. If you're not tired, you're not really doing anything to be tired from. I used to have difficulty falling asleep, that's cause I only had 2 or 3 classes in university, then I went home and played games for 9 hours. I wasn't actually doing anything all day. Now I work 10-12 hours, commute for 2, then go for a 30-40 minute run. I'm fucking exhausted all the time. It's great.

I'm all about quoting you today.

It's pretty much the same for me, I haven't actually 'switched off' for about 5 days.

Escapists It's 4am where I am and I need to get up early in the morning, but I'm honestly just not tired. What are some of the things you all do to make it easier to sleep?
(I didn't check the search bar so I apologize in advance if this is a repeat thread)
Pop In Batman:AA and go on the Inifinte enimies DLC chellenge room.

After a while the overly satisfying combat shall make you exhausted.

before i go to bed, i always set my alarm clock to the usual 5am (yes, i usually wakes up that early). then i just lay in my bed talking myself to sleep.

i gotta admit, i suck at sleeping. i usually wakes 1-3 times a night, and sometimes i wake at 3:30am out of pure instict, and when i do that, i just CANT sleep again, like my body doesnt want me to.

I built up a good knack of being able to fall asleep in any position or environment, and at any time I wish. It was a godsend at LAN parties.
I have the same thing. It's a gift I tell you. I fell asleep in a small plane and on a speed boat, so I have mastered the ability to sleep anywhere, anytime.
That is awesome i wish i could do that :)
although i did fall asleep outside with the lawn mower going when i was little . . .
anyways just think of something that makes you happy . . . works for me

Last night I fell unconscious because of the sheer volume of alcohol I drank. I find it aids getting to sleep better than anything.

Hmmmm if its four AM and your getting up early. (im going to guess seven AM) dont go to sleep. Its not worth it at that point.

In general, exercise vigourously during the day.

I used to be a reeeal insomniac, but that has passed. I tend to read (go on, laugh at me) while lying in bed, and when I get really tired, turn off the light and then I'm out....

I heard somewhere you shouldn't try to force going to sleep - don't even try to go until you feel tired.

With difficulty. I always try to get to sleep at a decent time, never works. And when I do eventually get to sleep, I wake up every couple of hours.

I have no problems sleeping ever... anywhere.
I've slept through hurricanes, earthquakes, car crashes, and other things.
I've slept on concrete outside, on stairs inside, and standing up at various times.

Guess I'm lucky.

Porn makes me sleepy if that helps.

My answer is still the same as it was four days ago [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/18.154894.3764961]:

The only thing that really does the job for me is beer. A couple of pints, not enough to get drunk but enough to feel an effect, a couple of hours before I want to sleep. I get really sleepy as the effect wears off. Unfortunately, the cost and implications of dependency combine to make sure it's not really an option.

The best I can hope for these days is "stop drinking caffeinated drinks and hope that my brain is kind enough to slow down and let me sleep". Works about 20% of the time. As a result I regularly find myself staying up until 7-8am and sleeping in until early evening.

I should probably add that, right now, I'm trying to plan a way to stay awake for the next 11-12 hours because I pulled an all-nighter in the hope of getting my sleeping pattern back to something resembling reasonable hours.

I read books in the dark, that usually makes me tired... I don't really have issues with sleep unless I'm not at home or I've watched a horror movie that my feeble mind just wants to insist could be real... both at the same time is nightmarish...
