Severe dislike. There are about 3 or 4 films that I can stomach but that's mainly because I would call them animated cyberpunk/sci fi but they just happen to be drawn in a manga/anime style.

I love anime, I hate like 70% of our fandom... I think that's why people hate us so much...

I can't STAND the big 3 anime series (Bleach, Naruto, One Piece) Like SERIOUSLY!!! KILL IT ALREADY IT'S DAMN NEAR 300 EPISODES!!!!

Also, did I meantion I can't stand most of our fandom? I mean... I go to cons and stuff, and squealy fangirls I've even somewhat gotten used to, but the butchering of the Japanese language and watching 2-3 series and says that you LOVE ANIME just because you're ashamed to have been born in North America and need a Japanese fix....

for one thing most of them will migrate to Japanese Drama (which actually isn't that different from anime, complete with over the top reactions and all, which I actually get a kick out of [it makes it funny!]) or just grow out of it like they'll (hopefully) grow out of their Twilight phases...

I can't speak for the guys though... a lot of them are.... either fairly normal, or... just as fucked up as those hardcore WoW players...

Every pop-culture has it's bad sides right?

-sigh- I'm embarrassed for us...

I seem to be slowly running out of new anime series to watch...
I'm running into the exact same problem. I grew up watching anime, but the only recent series that have piqued my interest are Canaan and Blassreiter. I think most of this is because of the moe boom that Japan is just now dragging itself out of.

I'm waiting for some more mature and thought provoking stuff to come out of Japan and all I'm seeing is K-ON! clones...

I think along the lines of "You've seen one, you've seen em' all."

I used to watch it A LOT, but then I turned thirteen.

I only meant that to be mildly insulting :p

It's alright. As with any genre, there is good and bad and it's all a matter of personal taste. I like that it tends to explore emotions, themes, and aesthetics that are somewhat absent from other genres.
Anime is a medium, not a genre. They tell stories as wide and varied as books, movies, tv, video games, comics, etc.

I have a fair bit on DvD, and I certainly had a love affair with it for a while. That said, the affair is over, and while the series I loved will always hold a place in my heart and on my shelf, I'm not expanding into it any more.

I'm a fan, although I don't watch it as much as I'd like.

Currently, I'm enamored by an anime called Panty and Stocking With Garterbelt. It. Is. Hilarious.
Isn't that Nabeshin?

OT: There is only one anime i can tolerate and that is Excel Saga. the reaon behind it is because i saw 26 episodes in a row with some friends when we where REALLY tired an laughed at everything! those fond memories has made me not hate that one anime show! might watch episode 26 just for the reason it's so absurd! The rest should be burned!

Studio Ghibli and Cowboy Bebop are about as far down the rabbit hole as I'm willing to go. No offense to anybody present, but the fanbase has repelled me from getting into it.
Yeah, some people take it WAAAAAY too far. Its kind of disturbing really.

Pretty it up anyway you like, I find MOST anime to be crappy excuses for pornography.

I like some, but not to the extent of most.

I dunno, I guess it is because I have a hard time getting a lot of the references that most people who watch them use around here, but I just feel that the overall fanbase is way too obsessive.

I'm not picking on anyone here. I just feel a little alienated when threads pop up, and it seems like every other post is talking about an anime show I've never heard of, or posting a link to any number of theme songs with high pitched singing that makes me want to blow my eardrums.

U just don't get it. And I don't really want to try.

It's probably my most watched "Type" of show. Japanese animation FTW.

Oh, and you, good sir;

I highly recommend you to at least try Death Note [http://www.hulu.com/death-note]. I think you'll like it.

I'm a fan of any show (web, television, cartoon, live action, whatever) where there's violent fighting with awesome powers, no matter what nationality. Though I have to say I like the artwork in anime better then some American cartoons....heh heh.

I used to like Anime, and I still love the anime I liked say, 5-10 years ago. I cherish them. Favourites I refuse to get rid of are Cowboy Bebop, Lain and Evangelion.

But the stuff that started coming out didn't hold the same entertainment value as I got older, I think a lot of it trended towards wackier ideas, or over the top fan service and I lost interest.

There's a couple good ones and many, many, many bad ones, just like with everything else. Personally, I try to keep my distance. I don't care for the art style, the cliches, the ridiculous proportions on just about every physical aspect of a human body, and most of the music, and listening to the dialogue in everything I've seen so far is like being lobotomized with a rusty pizza cutter.

Um... it's just like any other genre. There is good anime and there is bad anime. Personally, I like Afro Samurai and Elfen Lied the most. It's just strange to ask what you think about an art style... it's not like every anime is good simply because it's anime. It's like asking if you like live action movies...
