You can turn off auto-updating. Unless you're going to be playing online multiplayer, you don't HAVE to update games before you play theminnocentEX said:Its an alright program but I just see it as unnecessary because I don't want to have to download a 500mb update before I play a game.. I know updates may be necessary but if I don't have any bandwidth left it sure does suck having to wait for the next month to play a game =/
I sure feel stupid for not knowing this earlier, thanks for telling meAlfador_VII said:You can turn off auto-updating. Of all the intrusive, always on DRM systems. It's the most reliable and it's the only one which offers it's users any kind of payback for their inconvieniance and for not actually 'owning' the games. It's also the only one that allows you to fiddle with certain settings to make it work properly offline.gold_digger22 said:For example, in order to play Modern Warfare 2 on the PC, you need to install Steam and link your game key code to your account. Apparently it means they can't sell it later.
my mistake it was modern warfare 2 ... aka the worst piece of crap ever sold. even if I could have found someone who hadn't read the pc owner reviews slating this abortion I still couldn't sell it and recoup the £44.99 I'd been robbed. It also would not install from the disc and took 2 days to install and less than 4 hours to play. Activision and infinty ward must have been dying of laughter knowing how many people they had mugged and no-one could resell. I'm complaining about Steam because it is non optional. I have no problem verifying my purchase. I have a problem with being forced to install a product that offers me nothing except problems.Delusibeta said:@strigoivii: CoD: World at War was never a Steamworks game, and the PC port of Saints Row 2 was notoriously crap, so the lag you're complaining about would probably be unaffected if you cracked the game. I fail to see why you're complaining about Steam.
