Everyday I see someone here get pounded into the dust for typing his/her opinion. It becomes very annoying very quickly when you are flamed upon. Is there any specific technique you use that is actually successful and allows you to retain your opinion while still throwing it out there?

Yes, I do argue it out, but it never goes anywhere, it always ends up a continuous volley of opinions and facts to back them up. <-----annoying part is that-a-way.

Follow the crowd and only post opinions that are shared by the public.

Or you could not care about other people's opinions and post your own, then argue your point to those who have a problem with your opinion.

I just explain my position and why I think the way I do. Or thats what I would do, but I haven't really been flamed yet. But I wonder what it takes to push people over the edge...

I didn't find Legend of Zelda Ocerina of Time to be all that great.

Lets see if that does anything.

I say what I say. If someone wants to ***** me out, I'll ignore it. Some cranky person on the internet isn't worth talking to.

Well, I just dont try to antagonize people; Try and prevent drawing attention. The people who get flamed are the ones that make the most noise about their opinion.

Also, I always keep one of these handy,

as well as one of these for flame control,

Usually, when someone unjustly flames me, I break out my time-tested counter-argument:
START
Chill the fuck out. (Explain why they should chill the fuck out).
END
Seriously. Say that, and you win.

It depends what you mean by flaming? If it's just disagreement, then I type back a response and enjoy the debate. If it's being insulted, I ignore it, but I don't think anybody has insulted me on here... *waits*

By not being an idiot and saying obviously controversial things.

To anyone wondering why I can render judgment on this since I've only done six (seven counting this one) posts this is a second profile. Lost the password to the original and lost the password to the old email I used for it. It was a terrible day

Well though out posts with few holes are good as well as an ability to formed a reasoned argument. The ability to flame back also really help's if only to allow you to pick the holes in your own argument.

Some people are just unable to see another point of view if your drilled one into their heads however. These people usually leave themselves wide open as is so I suggest flaming back...Hard. If you have a reputation for being a dick and mercilessly destroying people generally noone will try their luck if they dont have a genuine response. This is how I get by on the wow forums. Just, if your guna do it, do it well or youll just make yourself look like an idiot. On better policed forums mods will step in before it ever gets to that point.
