Well, if they spell it for the first time, I just listen and see if they did it right.

But if they get it wrong the second time. You won't have my lasting respect as lasting as it was before!

Someone drew in my Dummy (a drawing book) and I was pissedm because it was mine. He wrote that he was sorry. He wrote it with my name spelled wrong. |-( Good grief, I was angry.

I have...

Last name Degen.

Dee-ghu-en

Hello mister Dugan? Who? You see a a or a U in there?

Daygoon? Idiot...

Dee Gan? Close, but acceptable.

Dezon? Yes Dezon, I told the retard to get hooked on phonics.

Diggen/diggin? Now your so fucking stupid what ever it was I will talk to someone else now...

Then again... some people are just that clueless they can't sound out a name.

I haven't yet met anyone who didn't come from a country with umlauts to pronounce my last name correctly.
Then again, my first name is Sam, and for the love of God, here in germany I've got people calling me

Sven,
Ken,
Robin(that one was on my first ID. Dunno how they messed up that bad),

and the most annoying to me,

"Sahm" (like "sun").

People normally misspell my name Connor like "Conner" I don't get too irked, I just let them know the correct way to spell it.

I have a danish last name, it ends in "sen" instead of "son". People fuck that up all the time. I've just kind of accepted this what people are going to do. So i just sigh, and tell them "It's s-E-n, not s-O-n".

My name is John Edge or as call centres call me my egadee, as my bank calls me Mr Hedges, as cold callers call me Mr Edger!

Oh and calling me Jonathan or Jon is a no no.....

That I hate my mother called me John it's not a short form of Jonathan! hence there is an "H" in it like the one in Herbs!

I seriously don't care anymore. There have to be at least three legitimate ways to pronounce my last name. I just spell it out for them when they ask how to say it.

GIANG. My parents say "Yang" which I think sounds stupid. My brother pronounces it "Gang" and I say "Jang." They're all supposedly legit, depending on which language you're speaking.

Noones ever mispronounced my name but if they try to spell it with a 'ph' instead of a 'v' I get annoyed

I just correct them or if I'm tired I might just let it be. I got used to it when living in abroad for a while. No-one was able to pronounce my name right on the first time there.

since its been happening for like 12 years now, i tried to just go with it, but when people make their just pathetic attempts at my name and don't stop until they think they've gotten it right, its just sad and annoying.

People fuck up the spelling but rarely the pronunciation. Foreign people generally get my name wrong because they spell it the way Ewan McGregor spells it, which is wrong....

I don't think anyone could mispronouce my real first name, atleast in an English speaking country, considering it's almost always been in the top 10 UK names for the last 50 years if not more.

It's actually pretty common to misspell my last name. Seeing as how the majority of the people who have the same use a S instead of a C. That said, I don't really mind. Though it can be annoying when I go to check something school related just to find my last name misspelled after constantly telling them how to spell it.

It doesn't happen very often, but I've dealt with a few people who insisted (not actually, but would never remember when corrected) that my name is Sofia, and not just Sophie.

And... it's been so long since anybody called me that instead of 'Soph' that now my name looks really weird when wrote out in full. Thanks for making me notice, internet!

My first name gets misspelled with two n's all the time. Telemarketers have never pronounced my surname correctly. I understand that McKinlay is the much more common version, but if it says McGinley on the form, that's my name and I refuse to answer to McKinlay.

Tell them how to pronounce/spell it. It happens all the time. I even let it slide sometimes if it close enough.

If I know the person I let it go. If I don't I correct them once. If they keep getting it wrong I hate them. Thats for my last name. If its for my first name I get angry. My name is Josh. It is not Joshua. Do not call me Joshua. Bad things happen when you call me Joshua.

My last name is weird so it doesn't bother me that much. Although it did get annoying that one of my professors could never get it right the two years that I had her.
