Well,, my first name is
Jonathan
Only one fucking "H" and it is not directly after or before the "O".
This is easily one of my biggest pet peeves ever. I can count the number of people who've asked or spelled my name correctly the first time.

For me its quite bad since people mispell my last name as Holroid rather than Holroyd (my real last name). Making me sound like a variant of muscle building drug. I just politely correct them though.

Most people call me Tyler (my name is Taylor). I just smile and not tell them my name is Taylor. Its good fun and people seem to think its cute.

Really, though, it's your fault for spelling your name wrong.
Haha, Oh you win an internet.

My first name? Mild surprise, since it isn't that uncommon. My last name? Let's just say I give a medal to anyone who pronounces "Boerger" on their first try.

People have been mispronouncing my name from day one but I don't let it get to me because everybody does it and every single person makes the same mistake. So I only bother correcting people if I talk to them regularly. I would say what the mistake was but I prefer not to give my last name out. Not that any of you are psychotic killers or anything:)

People often add an S to the end of my last name because then it would be the same as that of a football player. As flattering as that is, its not my name and we are not related.

I just correct them politely. My name isn't hard to pronounce, really the only mistake people make is writing it with only one "t".
I do the same as this guy. My last name isn't hard to read, it just people use a soft "a" (like cat) instead of a hard "a" (like made.)
Same here. It's MARE-ee-AH-nee. Somehow people have pronounced it as 'Martini' or 'Marconi' before though.

I seldom get a mispronounced name (at least in my own country, and I'm used to the English pronunciation of my name), but I really hate it when people misspell it. There is no excuse for doing so in e-mail either, my name is spelt correctly both in my most common mail addresses and in my signatures.
I edit the correct spelling in if I reply, and if they keep misspelling it I start to misspell their name in return.
So for the past months I have been in contact with someone I constantly call 'Bryan' or 'Brien' (actually 'Brian' of course) since he seems to be unable to realize that I write my name with an i at the end, not a y.

No one has ever gotten my name right the first time. Everyone has been mispronouncing it since I was born. I just correct them and move on.

I read it as Marinara when I first saw it, but that might've just been because I was hungry.

Happens all the time to me.. doesn't bother me for the simple fact that everyone does it to people with names that are slightly out of their comfort zone in saying.. don't see it as a big deal.

I don't get my name mispronounced so much, unless you can consider having someone completely confuse your name for another one "mispronounced". This is a phenomenon that happens to me regularly... People will call me anything but my first name except family members. This happened so much that I adopted a nickname at one point which seemed to solve this problem, but got tired of having to explain that "Dru" isn't my real name.
Sigh... You would figure that "Justin" is a pretty fucking easy name to remember. But no, people will call me Jason, or Josh or John I've also been called Chance, Chris, Mike, Mark, David, Rob... And I kid you not these aren't one time encounters, this happens a LOT.
I even had someone call me some Wilhelm (with a German accent). Mind you this is AFTER I have told people my name, sometimes multiple times.
I do tend to get the "Don't I know you?" question a lot... and most of the time the answer is "You don't."
I would swear I must be wearing the Gray Fox mask when I tell people my name...
(for those who don't know what/who Gray Fox is, please please play Oblivion ;))

My full last name is 17 letters long. I'm used to it being pronounced wrong. And my first name is spelled wrong a lot too, most people write "Courtney" which is understandable.

It doesn't really bother me.
I am now intrigued as to what your super awesome last name may be.

OT: Well, my name is Marius, but sometimes people go for, I dunno, Manus, Marinus. I... correct them. Last name isn't that hard though. Koelink. Although sometimes I have to help with the spelling, but they always pronounce it right.

I correct, but people don't seem to comprehend a simple pronunciation.
What sound does ph make? -f
what sound does e make? -e
What sound does phe make? -v (ish, it is a little different)

but is is certainly not -f

I usually give them a hard time for it, but just laugh it off. It really doesn't matter, does it?

But my last name is Morrow, and I can't tell you how many people have asked "Hey do you have a brother named Tom? Har har har!
