Best of luck to you then.
Remember to stay off the drink before the interview now, harr harr.

I feel you man. The interviewers acted like (and said that) it went great when I was leaving, but I got the refusal only a couple of hours later.
Cheers broham, I'll do all my drinking tonight so that I'll be fresh for tomorrow night.

Those interviewers really grind my gears - I know they don't want to be off-putting or negative, but why waste our damn time? If they're not gonna hire us then just say so.
Would be a lot more practical, yes.

My time isn't really "wasteable" though, so I won't complain.

Hiya escapists.

I'm boooored. Let's have a community-centered thread.

What I want to know is this: When you read the replies to a thread, how do you think of the users who reply?
Do you remember specific users from thread to thread and assign personalities to them? Do you think of them as people or just anonymous, faceless commenters, making no connections between threads?
i.e. When you see the comments do you think of them as a bunch of statements without considering whom they come from, or do you think of them as the opinions of a series of people you know to varying degrees?
There are quite a few users whom I recognize, and some I think of as people with personalities (for example, Fred is the guy I always disagree with.); but most users are just faceless people whom I do not see often enough, or whose posts I do not notice enough specific traits or patterns in to think of them as anything other than a bunch of random people.

The exception to this is the Religion and politics subforum, where I have a clear picture of most of the regulars.

Thread prompted by looking through old threads and realizing how many of the people I used to recognize (Aylaine, Furburt, Mackheath, Generic Gamer, that Swede with the colourful ninja spiral gif avatar thing, etc.) have either been banned, stopped posting, or migrated to the forum games section. Sigh.
Not sure if someone's mentioned it, but.. I think Aylaine died in a car crash. (If I'm wrong I'm going to be so incredibly embarrassed. >.> )

Anyway: OT: I recognise by Avatar, or if someone is incredibly awesome/Annoying I sometimes remember them.
Baldry from our lovely times in WHOOPS.
Sassafrass from having awesome Dr. Cox stuff in the past and a high post score when I was a young 'un.

But Rakktheundead is the annoying one. Gods he gets depressing and irritating in EVERY SINGLE RELATIONSHIP THREAD.
Here's basically how it goes.

Rakktheundead said:
Well I don't know if love is real. All I know is that I WILL NEVER BE LOVED BECAUSE I'M UGLY AND AWKWARD AND WHY EVEN TRY, RIGHT GUYS? EVERYONE HATES ME. I GAVE MY HEART TO HER AND SHE [HEADING=2]CRUUUUUSHED MY HOOOPES AND DREEEEAMS[/HEADING]
SO ALONE.
Though his posts are quite funny sometimes, so I say keep going, Rakk!

When you say it, that does sound awfully familiar. But:

That's the last thread she made, where she explained her situation and why she quit the escapist.
I don't think she died. At least I hope she didn't.

I may or may not get along with some of you. To me, some are friends, some are acquaintances, some are like that roommate who you don't really like but accept anyway. But I also see ya guys as like a second family, just one, big, happy, awkward, strange family. Mostly because I've only seen siblings argue and squabble the way you guys do.

I am currently viewing the other escapists through a 19 inch flat screen monitor, with HDMI resolution of 1280 X 720.

Thank god. I almost...I don't even know what I almost did. Made a comically exaggerated expression of confusion and surprise probably...

I tend to super impose a personality upon the various escapists generated by a combination of their avatar, the topics they post in, and the nature of their replies. For the most part I get along pretty well with the escapist personel but there are those who I would rather be cast into the deepest pits of Hell. But all in all, everyone has a personality to me.

I haven't been too active in this forum, but my first encounter was of a thread about how the 3DS was spying on people (except it wasn't at all it just logged what you bought and played like other consoles do) and the majority of people in the thread were either seeing if there was a way to turn off the activity log or saying they would refuse to buy a 3DS based on the fact it logged your activity, some even saying Nintendo was spying on people through the cameras. I could have left it there and said you were paranoid, but the more i skimmed, the more i saw that it was more diverse than Alex Jones' fans.

So you're generally nice people with a few idiots lining the walls. Like most communities on the internet i guess.

- MLP lover
This, is correct. I will add though - "intelligent" ones are also very, very snobby. And thats about 2 thirds of the forum.
Agreed. Also, speaking of knowing fellow escapists, LuckyClover95 and I were about to run off to Cuba to escape the evil Captain Killosaur at one point, but eventually did nothing.

As for everyone else, I usually just recognize avatars and types of responses those people give. FallutJack is a name that always stands out, for an example. I dont know anything else about them, really. I just come across them and notice them more easily. Like LuckyClover95, who at this point really should be suspicious of how I always seem to find and reply to her posts ever so often.

Haha I'm not suspicious, I enjoy it, carry on!
And I'm SO SORRY about the Cuba thing, have I created a new dishonest Escapist catagory? :( :p

I recognize names of the people I know in real life (which is one person) and people like this weird dude, DonMartin, who like replies to everything 0.o ;D
And SnowyRainbow, who I haven't seen around in a while, sad times :(

It depends... my opinions of people on this site vary widely. I prefer to see people as individuals rather than lumping people together in groups. Overall... there are a good number of posters (many of whom are the so-called "big posters") who I know quite well personally, and most of them are friends of mine that I talk to on a semi-regular basis. There are a tiny handful of people I don't like, but I don't pay them any mind whatsoever so long as they stay away from me.

But... beyond who I know personally, I don't really add any "label" to people at all. To me, there are simply people who I know and people who I don't know. I don't like to generalize people, or put them into groups.

Also... I don't really care about people's avatars, but rather the quality of their personality, or their posts. Avatars are merely a reflection of how a person wishes to present themselves, but beyond that don't really mean much.

So... I either know you personally... or I don't, and therefore assume nothing about you.

With that said... i'm sure there are plenty of good people among those who I have yet to meet. :3

As informative, slightly squawky text boxes, of course! Some text boxes look more familiar, and I've had conversations with a few of them, about things in their text-boxy life.

Although there can be hidden, secret nods to shadowy organizations in them as well. But yeah, the mean nothing more than how a person wishes to be seen :)

Humph.

Does the Spanish Inquisition count as a secret shadowy organisation do you think?
