There're a lot of avatars users I recognise on the forums.
Usually they're people who post frequently although, every now and again, I'll come across someone who posts something so retarded I'll notice them from then on. Or they post something awesome and I develop an internet crush on them.
I have loads of those.

Soon I shall rise to internet fame.
I just need a higher post count, some cats, a bible and a meme-base related protest sign.

Brace yourself, internet!

I mostly don't even look at people's avatars unless I'm quoting them. Even then I tend to forget what the picture is unless it has boobs in it.

More of you need to have avatars with boobs in. Not just for me. For the community.

But you aren't such a bad bunch on the whole. There are a few exceptions of course, someone already mentioned the goody-goody types who'll post lawful good/family values/respect authority/winners don't use drugs response to almost every thread like they're at the end of a G.I Joe episode. This is only a mild irritant until someone agrees with them.

Then there are the uber right wing types that tend to use the word 'socialist' as an insult. Again, not annoying until someone agrees with them.

Also the paedophile enablers. I'll admit there aren't that many anymore. But a few months ago there was a thread that basically played 'kiss, marry, kill' with fictional characters. I looked in thinking it'd be a good laugh and I saw page after page of anime children. It was pretty upsetting.

But you can find posters like these all over the internet, they're actually in the minority here. That says something about the quality of the forum. Like I said, you're a pretty awesome bunch on the whole.

It's just that more of you need boobs in your avatars. That is all.

I tend to not recognise anyone until I've read enough posts to glean personality from them. Then I tend to recognise them everywhere I go. Everyone else just tends to be background noise.

That said, since the one's I used to recognise a lot have now mostly all moved on, I'm left with a handful of people I recognise but never talk to. It's odd to think I probably remember many of the posts of some of the people in this thread but have almost never spoken to.

I don't actually talk to anyone regularly on this forum anyway so I wouldn't expect to be recognised or remembered for anything in particular 'cept maybe the avatar to be honest. /foreveralone

Jesus fuck! How much do you post?! I've been here since 2008 and I've got less than a fifth of your posts!

Holy heck, I'm not sure whether to feel sorry for you, or give you a hearty pat on the back.

EDIT: That was meant to be a rib-tickler, I'm sorry if it came across as more offensive than intended; I'm pretty fucking drunk - three boilermakers will do that to a guy.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Very few have proven me wrong.

I'm fine with whichever.

Gotta have something to do in my spare time. Foreveralone.jpg and stuff.
Well, I do have more stuff to do now that I've reached legal drinking age (as in, suddenly getting a hold of alcohol doesn't require effort.), but I can't go get drunk every weekend. I'd be broke as shit.
Maybe I should try out those boilermakers. Last time I just did White Russians all night. Did not end well.

I used to post a lot more back in the day.
Now that I've got the Neo I've settled down a bit.
5000 in a year isn't all that impressive though. I remember when I first started to notice Aylaine.
She had 3000 posts after something like 1-3 months.

By the way, didn't you use to have a HAL 3000 avatar or something, or am I confusing you with someone else?

And what are you doing drunk on a monday morning?

wow thats a big call (though to be honest I tend to agree to a certian extent)

I notice avatars mostly..and peopel who often post

at best the comunity is civil, nice and makes good conversation....at worst a bunch of nitpicking misanthropic "I wont say what I originally typed"

I recognize a lot of avatars and names, but I only have a slight negative preconceived biased against one...

I was still able to have a nice couple of posts with them a week ago, so it isn't really that bad.

EDIT: I usually imagine the avatar is talking while I read posts... that doesn't really help!

this guy is a guy i remember and that crazy enternalnothingness

You're alright, guy. You're getting a friend request.

God, you poor bastard. I remember my first legal drinking party, I drank four vodka on the rocks and then punched a girl... It wasn't a good night.

I'd suggest taking it easy with boilermakers and not drinking them like a docker i.e. don't chug them down in one sitting - it gets you horrendously drunk, horrendously fast.

It's basically a shot of whiskey thrown into a pint of beer. You can probably imagine what happens when you chug them in quick succession.

Nope, I've always proudly displayed my affiliation with 4chan in my avatar. It's pretty sad, I know, but I was of the 4chan generation, and I refuse to let my teens die.

Why am I so drunk on early Monday morning? Welcome to post-education unemployment.

Since I used to lurk on GameFAQ's before I came here (and to some extent still do), I view the Escapists as some kind of master race that is capable of talking about something without devolving into memes or other general thread-derailing fucktardery.

I recognise most of the people in this thread, because I lurk way, way more often than I post, and I post at least once a day.

I divide The Escapist population thusly:
- A very small handful of Escapists who I so strongly respect that I actually check their profile every few days and just read through their posts, enjoying the wisdom (not saying who though, because that's basically internet stalking, and I wouldn't last five minutes in jail);
- A small handful of Escapists that I don't like because they start too many threads, or post too much lightweight worthless stuff;
- A big handful of well known ones, most of which have posted in this thread themselves (like Root of all Evil or Daystar Clarion);
- Several handfuls of Escapists that I recognise, but not well enough to have formed a substantial opinion on;
- Everyone else.

I can pretty much guarantee that I know everyone better than they know me; partly because I look at profiles a lot, and partly because most of my posts, while correctly spelt, lack substance, and are thus not very memorable.

There are people I recognize, but I'm usually on here at work so I can't focus solely on The Escapist enough to start spotting trends in all their posting patterns and the personalities behind them.

Ouch.
I'm not that agressive when I get drunk.
More prone to frolicking on the floor and giggling to myself. Before throwing up and falling asleep, that is.
I suppose the legality of the party is disputed though. I'm not really allowed to drink vodka.

I can imagine.
I'm fine with horrendously drunk though, so long as it doesn't get me sick. (I'm in the last year of 'videregående', so the tradition of 'Russefeiring' dictates that I get some experience being absolutely pissed.)

I managed to find out that having a stomach full of cream and Kahlua doesn't go well with being wasted though, so go me I guess.
I don't know if you've tasted Kahlua, but it's seriously the most gruesome beverage I've ever had. I still have half a bottle that I have no idea what I should do with.
The shit cost me £20($30).
Guess there's nothing to do but looking up recipes which contain as small amounts of it as possible.

Curses. Here I thought I had a great trivia memory.
Must have been some other guy with a sort of acronymish name with a capital b.

Ah, that's right. I have no idea what to do after I finish school. That might pose a problem.

I feel a bit intimidated to reply, since I haven't been here for that long. I kinda felt like this topic is for those that have been here for awhile. But still...

I tend to try to figure out which gender of the poster and quite often check their profile. It really doesn't matter actually and it doesn't affect anyones post. But I find myself so curious... Sorry you all.

I recognize those that post often and out of those the ones that have a strong opinion and can support it. There are a lot of people here who have mind staggering post counts but have little to nothing to say in any topic, so for me the post count means nothing. I just seem to seek out longer and well written posts, often only skimming the shorter ones. I am really not the best person to "judge" anyone, on any post, but I find that I can't help myself...

There are some very interesting people here and it's fun to just read posts.

Oh god, that shit is ugly. Why did you buy that?! Don't you value your taste buds?! I guess you could do what I do with ugly tasting alcohol: save it for when you're so drunk already that you won't care about the taste.

...

I'm beginning to sound like an alcoholic.

You'll probably do what I'm doing: realise that the fact that you got the highest grades in your classes counts for shit with employers, and then sadly wander around various towns trying desperately to get the most menial jobs, only to be given the response "lol I don't care that you can explain how mRNA transcription occurs - you need two years minimum experience to be a waiter, jackass".

It's a depressing experience.
