I don't know what to say really. Just... dammit.
God dammit.
AH. Well done, Yahtzee. Start a cult!Archon said:Jim Grin/Vitagen, if you look at the underlying AdAge article that this is referencing, AdAge is offering the *total* views the top content creators on YouTube have gotten, which are in the 60 million to 200 million plus range. We are comparing apples to apples - Yahtzee's total views to their total views.
Five minutes, right on the button.robotam said:Yes we certainly love it.
Also I need to make sure not to post this comment until 5 minutes after the article was published.
Well fuck. This is no longer a world I want to live in.Formica Archonis said:Let's see:
Not only did he beat Yahtzee handily, but that's over half a billion. Actually.... Fred's top of the list. "Nigahiga" comes in second at 546 million, whoever that is. That can't be right. Did someone go back in time and change the past so we get the "bad" future? This just can't be the right universe.FRED

Okay, looking over this list, is there some sort of other Internet out there I haven't been on? I haven't heard of ANY of these other than Fred, and even that's only because someone posted a rant about him where I saw it that could be best described as pure, distilled hatred.
You know, it's days like this that make me want to hang myself just to get off this planet. I think I don't because of a mix of survival instinct and a belief that I shouldn't kill myself unless I can take a lot of stupid people with me.

oh yes thank you for reminding me to pre order a copy...Daemascus said:Its nice to see that Yahtzee gets more views than a "funny" cat video.
[sub]Now if only his damn book would get here already[/sub]
This is exactly what I was thinking. I quickly did the math:Jim Grim said:Then again, a video practically every week for 2 or 3 years... I'd rather see the numbers for one individual video.
No, I come from the strange and mystical land of Britain, where people use the word twat and twatty without ironic sentiment.Agent51 said:I bet you didn't start using Twatty as a verb until you started watching YahtzeeCmwissy said:I really want to rant about how mainstream youtube stars are just zany hipster twats with no talent who make pop culture references who's entire fan base consists of twatty 14-year-old girls.
Oh wait, I just did.
I'm glad Yahtzee stays away from that territory.
And as if by some off internet magic my copy arrived today the day before I left for University, yay for me!The Cheezy One said:got mine! it even talks about interstellar bum pirates! not a spoiler or anything, but really funny for us!TheEnglishman said:Yay for Yahtzee!
Now if only Amazon would deliver his friggning book!
True, so in all fairness it really isn't comparable unless you look at other series' of this nature and the amount of views that they get each week.Soylent Dave said:Someone who gets 60+million hits for a single video (or a short series) wouldn't be something you'd really want to compare with Yahtzee anyway - not that these people haven't been successful at what they've done (they have), but they're doing something different to the serially successful (the ones who get big audiences every week)Xyliss said:True but surely the amount of video's count? You could compare all his videos to a guy who's made three short ones and say your comparing the same thing, all of Yahtzee's to all of his
So even if - as seems to be the cry - you calculated mean hits per video 'for fair comparison', you'd still have to remove all the outliers. Single videos which were massively popular due to being topical and well presented, for example, often get ridiculous numbers of views - but the authors never create anything again, so it's just not comparable to people who are producing series'.
