I think the biggest complaint most of us brits have is that its just another stupid event.
If there was any actual patriotism behind it, there might actually be some vague interest - but its just another hyper-consumerist event, quite close in proximity to another big consumerist event, chocolate-rabbit-egg zombie-jesus day. None of the newspapers, TV stations or talking points about the wedding have done anything but push the angle that you should watch it exclusive on their channel or read about it in their paper (special wedding edition of-course).
The royal wedding is ONLY being advertised, mentioned or referenced in relation to a product or service by those with money to be made.
As a consumer event, its a fail, it lacks any virtues. Ugly horse-faced boy marries girl. Who in the UK *honestly* cares other than those trying to make a quick buck?
