How short is too short?

My opinion on the matter is entirely aesthetic. I dislike the -really- short skirts that look pulled taut around the thighs. It just doesn't appeal. However, I have some pretty short skirts that look flowy and summery, and I'm fond of them. Beyond that, I couldn't care less if people went naked. It's their expression, let them express it. Don't like it? Nobody is forcing you into it.

If a fine looking lady decides that its her business to walk arround in nothing but some daisy dukes, far be it from me to stop her:p Guys need to wear pants at least though.

I really couldn't care less what people wear, but there's a trend going around my school that is bugging the shit out of me.

Girls, TIGHTS ARE NOT PANTS. IF you do wear tights, wear shorts. God dammit, it's just stupid!

Also, stop bugging me about how I don't wear shorts. It's not because I don't like my legs, it's not because my legs are hairy, I just DON'T LIKE SHORTS. I don't like how they feel, it's ridiculously hard to find ones that fit me and look good, and I just much prefer my dark-wash jeans. Leave me alone.

Totally agree on that one. It depends highly on the person... Luckily for us, most people know what they can or can't wear.
Except for when you go to the beach, then you see the people who don't know this.

The horror.
Which is why I never go to the beach ;)

Well, we did have a problem with too much length in the past.

If I can see their underwear, it's too short. That's for woman. For men, if I can see your underwear, pull your freaking pants up and get a belt or something.

In all honesty, I can see where adults and especially parents can get a tad shocked by this. I have a Latin Teacher who claims that if you put your hands by your side and your tallest finger is farther down then the cloth, then it's too short.
Actually, we had that policy in middle school. My friends figured out that super obese people were the ones who could wear the shortest shorts, since their functional arm length is hindered by their middle section weight.

Honestly, I'd prefer is people keep it covered up, but as other posters have said, if you're super attractive and you know it, I'm not going to get mad if you wear less...

I worked in a bakery for 6 months on a temporary cover for various holidays and a lady who was quite large and relatively old (mid-forties) came in, gorgeous sunny day, but was wearing what appeared to be a large belt to 'cover' her breasts and what could only be described as an oversized postage stamp as a skirt...

Now, people can wear whatever the hell they like and make themselves look as foolish as you want but this was so far over the line that she'd need an international flight back to get there. She went to pay for whatever it was she had bought from the other counter, dropped a pound coin and bent over to pick it up... Bad idea... No underwear... I swear that it wasn't in my job description to be subjected to that kind of ordeal...

Depends on how cute they are.

A 5 foot 4 inch 250 pound chick should wear a big summer dress.

I have two beautiful things that allow me to back up that anyone over 18 can wear what the fuckever they want. The first is eyelids, which allow me to hide the disgusting stuff from my psyche and run in terror. The second is a mouth, which allows me to explain improvements if the aesthetic offense is minor.
If you shut your eyes and run, couldn't that get messy?

With my arms straight down, I dont wear anything shorter than where my wrist is. Gives me a few inches of room before I start revealing anything unpleasant.
Generally, that's how I think most girls should go. I went to a catholic uniform school where all the girls rolled their kilts up so that you could see the curve of their bum. WAY TOO SHORT.
And I really hated having to walk behind those girls in the stairwells. >_<
How old are we talking here? if they are 15-18 years old I wouldn't have a problem with walking behind them in stairs! :3
Well, I'm a girl and I don't enjoy those types of things. :p But yes, it was in high school.

MY GOD YES.

Especially white ones, THOSE ARE SEE-THROUGH WHEN WORN! Ugh. I've seen way too many horrifying things in the mall this summer because of those people.

not everyone is an oversexed 15 yo heterosexual boy (so perhaps the poster complaining about being behind girls going up the stairs isnt).
I guess I shouldn't assume that it's obvious that I'm a girl.
